Jari-Matti Latvala clinches Rally GB victory for Ford

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96177

Jari-Matti Latvala finally took his first victory of the 2011 World Rally season in Great Britain, emerging as the last man standing at the end of a dramatic weekend in the Welsh forests. The title fight was resolved early when Mikko Hirvonen retired his Ford on Friday after damaging the car's radiator in a spin. Up to then, the Finn and title rival Sebastien Loeb had been swapping the lead in an extremely tight battle, but Hirvonen's exit meant Loeb knew by Friday night that his eighth straight championship was in the bag.

Hirvonen (one of factory Fords driver) came really close to wining a championship. Sadly, he crashed in the last rally of the season ...

What I don't like about WRC is so many team orders. In the past few rallies Latvala did outperform Hirvonen, but he had to slow down in the end and let him pass because Hirvonen was fighting for a championship.

Ford just lost Mikko Hirvonen to Citroen.

However, they will most likely sign Sebastien Ogier (whose ride at Citroen Hirvonen will take over) who won 5 races last year (tied with Sebastien Loeb for most in WRC).
