" O'Donnell added that Allmendinger had 72 hours to request a test of his 'B' sample, per the NASCAR rule book. If he declines that test, or if that test also comes up positive, his suspension will become indefinite. "

There must be something in water at camp Penske, since this is a 2nd time in a pretty short time that their driver is failing a drug test (Jeremy Mayfield was the first one).

I really don't wanna see AJ suspended, he's one of my favorite drivers, and he will be finally driving a Ford next year.

 

Allmendinger Indefinitely Suspended From NASCAR Competition: AJ Allmendinger, driver of the #22 Dodge in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been suspended indefinitely from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body's substance abuse policy. On July 24, Allmendinger was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (NASCAR's substance abuse policy) of the 2012 NASCAR rule book. As outlined in the rule book, NASCAR next will provide Allmendinger a letter outlining a process for reinstatement. By agreeing to the letter, he will be allowed to participate in the Road to Recovery Program.(NASCAR)
Penske Racing Statement: "In accordance with NASCAR's Substance Abuse Policy, Penske Racing was notified today of AJ Allmendinger's positive B sample test. We respect NASCAR's policy and the process they have taken with this matter. To that end, we have secured the services of an independent lab to conduct thorough testing on every product within AJ's home and motor coach to find what might collaborate with his test, which created results that were within nanograms of accepted standards. Well Penske's going to need to shop for a driver, any bets on who they land?

 

Wasn't David Ragan a candidate before? I bet he's an option and I wonder what Shell has to say about this. They can't be happy at all after Kurt Busch and now this.

Another driver trying to get back in is Scott Speed too. Hornish is running for Nationwide championship so I can't imagine him to finish out the season in AJ's place.

 

I have heard that Penske is also considering Trevor Bayne (since Wood Brothers can't offer him a full time ride yet) and Joey Logano (if Gibbs does not come up with a sponsorship for that 4th team).

 

Both of those guys would be a good choice for Penske and the sponsors. I would think some how Jack Roush may have a say in it too. Isn't Trevor supposed to drive the #6 in Nationwide for the championship next year?

Now that I think about it, Penske's going to Ford next year so getting Trevor might not be that hard.
