Yes, and it was awesome! The wife kept trying to talk to me during the show as I was sitting there with drool running down my chin. I finally told her "talking is for commercials" and turned up the volume. She didn't talk to me for an hour. It worked!!

Daytona was fast and good, but nowhere as good as GT40.

That would be true, except that it was developed and built by Ford of Britain...

What I found fascanating is that the first one was built and driven in just 90 days.

Today it would take 90 days to get a committee to approve of spending a couple of bucks to research the viability of producing a computer model simulation.

It was built in Britain, but not by Ford. It was built by a company named Lola using parts all over Europe plus engine from the USA (289 cid from Fairlane).

After 1965 the development of GT40 was switched to Shelby's factory in California.

First engine wasn't the 289, it was the Indy 256 (4.2) engine. And it was based on the Lola, but FMC contracted for 1 year with Broadley, Lola's owner, and bought 2 or 3 Lola's but did not involve Lola Cars directly.

Anyone interested in a good read in the coming weeks should take a look at, Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans by A.J. Bamie.
