great publicity for this car.
am I right that with nascar, the racer doesn't share any performance characteristics with the stock car? or do they share some basic chassis components, stuff like that? Anyways, it'll be cool to see a race car with the fusion's sweet styling.

The Nascar version will vaguely look like a 2 door version of the Fusion, but that's about it.

I saw a Fusion (Black on Black) in person at Kentucky Motor Speedway lasy night at the NASCAR Trucks race last night. It is one terrific looking car! I wish my wife would have waited to purchase a Fusion instead of a Five Hundred. Don't get me wrong I like the Five Hundred quite a bit, but the Fusion is really cool.

I'm interested to see how the Fusion "Stickers" will look on NASCAR's template bodies . . .

There is a really neat video of the Fusion on Ford.com. The Fusion appears like the terminator does in a ball of lightning and everyone is looking at it drive around! Very cool

I'm betting that the NASCAR Fusion will have very little resemblance to the real deal. Just look at the NASCAR Dodge "Charger."

No RWD, FWD and AWD option in the future. I hope the Fusion stickers look real nice on the spec body. . .

The Fusion is basically a Mazda6 with a facelift, and without the option of a stick shift with the V-6.

More like a rear-drive tube frame car has some stickers applied to make it look a little Taurus-ish.

here's the first official photo of the fusion cup car...I looks a lot like the taurus front bumper mold from 2000 to me.

That's not entirely true. While much of the mechanicals are the same, Ford stretched the platform out. The Fusion has a width/wheelbase of 71.5/107.4 vs. 70.1/105.3 for the Mazda6.

That's because they're all designed around the same template. If you pull off the grill and headlight stickers, it's very hard to tell a Chevy from a Ford from a Dodge (and apparantely Toyota very soon).

What change? it looks like a Taurus with different stickers. I'd be a lot more interested in Nascar if they dumped the common template and made the cars look like the cars that they're pretending to be.
