Thanks for the schedule, I'll be watching most of it! :)

I really hope Audi does better this year, and I'm interested to see how the Deltawing does. Since 2 out of 3 of the new Audi's crashed-out last year, if it even just finishes it would be a success. ;)

StangMahn 6/12/12 07:02 AM

I can't wait to watch the Audi's (especially with the Truth in 24 II special afterwords). Those boys took some massive hits last year, both McNish and Rocky.

The delta wing will be interesting, as will the hybrids.

I'm excited, this plus the US Open on TV, the StangMahn is gonna be a couch potato this weekend.

Tron 6/12/12 07:37 AM

I am all over this! I never miss it! Can't wait to see how the deltawing holds up.

interesting article by TopGear Mag on the Delta Wing

I hope to catch a chunk of it.

cdynaco 6/12/12 02:58 PM

Yep I'll be watching! :nice: On and off thru the night too. Have the past several years. Same with Daytona.

StangMahn 6/12/12 11:06 PM

this is the first year I'll be able to watch the whole thing. I'm gonna have it on the TV, some streaming coverage, and definitely the Corvette coverage.

Is that different than any other weekend? :D

Zaksgt 6/13/12 12:48 AM

Yup me and my family are watching it!! Go MR.Lemans!!

Lucky13 6/13/12 06:11 PM

I'll be watching. Wish they hadn't hamstrung the Deltawing though.

Do tell.

StangMahn 6/14/12 09:57 AM

I didn't know that they'd done anything to them, though I hadn't been reading much about any of it this year really.

m4a1mustang 6/14/12 09:59 AM

I'll be tuning in when I can!

StangMahn 6/14/12 10:56 AM

seems like there's more televised coverage this year than years past.

ACO is setting the pace for this car. Makes this more of a trial run than a competition.

Motoyama completed the fastest lap of the day at 3 minutes, 47.980 seconds. The Nissan DeltaWing technical, team led by concept originator Ben Bowlby, believe they are comfortably within reach of their target pace of 3 minutes, 45 seconds as requested by race officials.

Can't find the article right now but they also had their fuel capacity cut in half, nullifying a good chunk of the efficiency advantage.

All that was set in place prior to testing. I wouldn't say they "hamstrung" the Deltawing. And it is suppose to be more of a trial run, but if they perform well . . . all the better. The new Toyota's have a 73L fuel capacity vs. 40L for The Wing. I'm not sure what the fuel capacity is for the LMP2 cars.

One can look at both sides of the coin and decide if The Wing makes the same amount of stops as some of the leaders that with the amount saved with the reduced capacity is on target, or if the capacity was 80L and only make 1/2 the stops.

Perhaps next year we might see an Ecoboost powered LMP2 car on the grid. With Robertson Racing not on the grid there are no Blue Ovals in this years event.

I thought I had seen some millings about on the rumor that Ford would be doing just that with their EB engines.

There is an EcoBoost team on the grid in ALMS (http://www.noitavonne.com/NoitRacing/team.html), but they've only competed (and finished) one race. http://www.alms.com/articles/project...n-turbo-engine

this is going to be a hell of a race!

McNish with that brilliant move in the first few corners.
