It definitely needs some work that's for sure. I think it will look better as a coupe and when they get all of the bumpers to fit correctly. I also don't care for the wheels. They look like glorified 19" nickel wheels that came stock on my GT.

so glad to see the saleen brand back alive, however, the design of the 2010 saleen s281 kit is far superior to the SMS kit featured on this prototype. i dont care how many overstock kits sms didn't sell, Saleen needs to get the s281 kit back on the streets for the 10-14's asap!
the color is awesome though and the front end does look good. the rear end is an unmitigated disaster with that clown show wing and the wheels aren't aggressive enough to be saleen. the forged saleen extreme wheels and 7 spoke's like the ones used on the dark horse edition are way better. if ur going to slap 35lb wheels on the car, at least make them look better. im not tripping on the gaps though, clearly this is a tester just to get things rolling.

You missed the gap under the '13 tail lights. Saleen rear bumper cover was meant for the '12 tail lights. I know 'cause I'm having my '13 tail lights retrofitted to my '11 mustang so that the gap is filled.

Saleen didn't anticipate a tail light change for the 13 and they manufacture urethane parts/kit to work with the existing "general" body. They have never swapped taillights.
Could they have manufactured new tail lights? Probably. But who could top the 13s?
My guess is that the remaining 13-14 Saleen Mustangs will be produced using all of those left over body kits lying around as you mention.
As far as color, Remember that Steve Saleen is known for unique colors. Heck he created crazy colors and named them after his wife and daughter. (Liz stick Red and Molly Pop pink) You may even remember Beryllium and Extreme Rainbow. Wow!
Lastly, 700hp Automatic! Don't let the teenagers borrow this one. Can you imagine simply stomping your big foot on 700 horses?

Hit the nail on the head. By the time Saleen finishes redesigning a new rear bumper to accommodate the 13-14 models, the new platform will be released.

Car belongs to friends of mine who are long-time Saleen enthusiasts. I can't wait to see it in person - probably at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix in July, where the Mustang is the feature car this year. Their other cars ( Saleens ) are gorgeous and detailed to the hilt all the time. Great people to know.

The looks are subjective. Power is questionable until the car is in production and in hand. Saleen never disappoints with power. I imagine many Z06s falling prey to this car.
Prototype or not, Saleen has always had a problem with parts fitment. I guess it has to do with the employees at the plant in CA.?
Droopy rear bumpers, warped wings, taillight gaps, side skirts pulling away from the body, and seats that crease when they are closed... Well for the price of these cars, you would think these issues could be addressed.
I'm guessing the sticker on that 351 will be close too 90k. Heck the old 1999 351 was over 60k.
