illegal burnout or not ?
if a burnout happens in tha back woods in a very hidden location an nobody hears is it still illegal. seriously though i need to find a place close by in a closed setting to let lose a bit. not gonna break any laws but would like to hear from others plagued with temptation.

I just do it. What are they going to do, lecture me about putting stripes down, making a little smoke? Nobody was around... if I hurt myself, well, I deserve it.
/Oh hai ocifer! Yep, I's bein' naughty. Good lookin' stripes though, yeah? I'll give ya my autograph, I deserve it. Totes worth it though. Thanks! You too sir!

///What? Isn't that double jeopardy? No? Oh. Ok, well, gimme another, my bad...
//// Please note, I ain't condonin' that there street racin'. Just a back woods, nobody around, straight stretch, only myself in danger, burnout where hopefully nobody is gonna even know who it was... and even then, well, sure, I don't really condone that. But I gotta be me sometimes... Sorries.

If you do a burnout on public road you could get charged with reckless endangerment. But if no one is around I'm not too sure what they could charge you with, since you out no one else life in danger.
I'll find out!

Speaking of laws, burnouts on public roads are illegal. Here it's simply "Reckless Driving" if caught.
All my years as a Trooper I never cared if they did burnouts if no one was around but them .... unless they wrecked and called for a Trooper to come work their wreck, then I cared if it was me. If no one is around, no one knows ...... but once you involve another, whomever, through them being there (whether you knew or not) or damaging property, even state property ..... that's different. If you wrecked doing a simple burn out, you had no business attempting the burn out, you were already "in over your head". I never conducted a "burn out investigation" after finding the marks, but if marks kept getting put down, more added regularly, it was a sign of maybe "good hunting" warranting a return visit for a Trooper on patrol so then I would sometimes spend more time in that area if a well traveled roadway.
I did once come around a curve on US11 and found a fresh thick cloud of tire smoke, long shiney tire marks of wet looking rubber, and a Camaro a few yards up the roadway still moving with smoke residue coming from the rear fenders, rear tires sticky, melted hot rubber on rear fenders, looking guilty like. He was 18 or 19, it was his 15 yo GF's dad's "pet car" .... I figure that probably ended that deal.

if a tree falls in the wood and no one hears it then all is good and well same goes for a burn out. Heck I think we all know where we can go have a smoke or 3 out of harms way. Man if you lose it just call a tow truck not the PoPo

Also, some car shows/meets have areas where burnouts are generally allowed (police/show sponsor/property owners are OK with it), which is a good place to go have your fun if you want a crowd watching. Just don't go and do it if it's not allowed, or in the areas where it's not allowed.

I look at it as drivers education. A person needs to know the capabilities of they're vehicle right. Sorry officer I was just practicing on my driver skills. Straight line, circles and the old S patterns.
