v1 radar install

ok took out my v1 from my old 08 gt and was getting ready to install it in my 2011 gt500 , on the old car spare fuse outlets were empty sockets now that i look at my fuse panel the spare sockets have a fuse installed in them, so i just pulled the fuse out installed it in the add a fuse plug then put into the socket into spare socket( #13 a 5a socket) then turned over the car , and i didnt get any power to the radar. i also left the battery hooked up , should have i disconnected the battery and then reconnect after install?? so any help would be apprciated.

The spare location is for spare fuses in case one of the usable ones are blown out.

You will have to tap into a different fuse location with the add-a-circuit to hardwire your V1.

it seems that every socket i put the add-a-circuit the v1 doesnt turn on, plus i didnt ground it while doing this ,crap this was easier in the s197 model than the 2011 gt500 . totally at a loss here.

Uhh... Try grounding it... lol.

I don't remember the fuse outlet I used, but I believe it was the windshield wipers cause it had switched power (ACC/ON)

Gotta ground it. I don't have a Shelby, just a lowly GT, so I am not sure if the interior fuse block is the same, but I put my add-a-fuse tap into the slot with the body module. It only has power when the key is in the on/start position, that way the V1 does not come on in accessory or in the retained power mode when you pull the key out . Just a note, if your fuse tap has two fuse slots, be sure to put two fuses in it, otherwise the V1 will not power up. I put the fuse that came with the V1 in one slot and I took the fuse from the fuse block where I plugged my tap into and put it in the second slot.

Hope this helps.

i have been using the 2011 mustang manual cause in the gt500 supplemental manual doesnt have that in it. i have not grounded it, and i didnt realize that i need to put 2 fuses in the add a fuse, cause in my 08 gt i just used a switchable slot that was just open so i bet that is the reason for no power to v1 but the slot designation still worked . well to late to mess with it now will do it in the morning ,it amazing how something so simple is a pain in the *** oh well its the only way to learn. thanks all
