Test Drove a 2011 GT500 today

I ordered back in Feb. and naturally, the dealer got their "stock" car in, while my retail order awaits a build date. Hopefully my retail order will be pulled soon. Anyway, my salesmen is really cool and let me know they got their stock GT500, Grey, performance package, stripe delete in and to come take it for a drive. Well, if it wasn't for the extra $ the SVT package adds, I'd still be out driving it right now!!! The SVT package, plus the car cover puts it about 4 grand over what my order is.

And that takes me out of my 20% down and 20% down interest rate. But tempting as hell!!!!

I was surprised that I really like the SVT package wheels in person, didn't care for them in pictures. They look awesome with Sterling Grey paint. This just makes it that much harder to wait for mine!!!!

BTW, the axle was painted on this one. I read over on Team Shelby that others were too.

Unless you ordered at a very large dealer that sells a ton of Mustangs you may be waiting until winter for you car to come in. Small dealers are only getting one car as of now. I ordered back on 04Feb2010 and finally reordered at another dealer that had not placed any orders for GT500's yet.

Good luck but dont hold your breath, you should take the one they have.

Oh, don't think that's not on my mind. And to top it off, they still have a 2010 Kona stripe delete that I could probably get a good deal on. I need a drink....

There would be nothing wrong with that Kona if you decided to save some coin.

Do they offer a spoiler delete option on the GT500? If not, they should. That thing looks ridiculous.

Yeah, I know, but it looks way better with stripes. I could get it striped but it would still lack seat stripes. As much as I am paying for a Shelby, I don't wanna comprise too much. On my 3rd beer...

No problem! I wonder what the dealer thought of me crawling underneath the car taking pics though, lol.

Those silly thin stripes? Are you serious? The car is perfect as it is.

Hell, just borrow the extra $800 for the 20% down and get the grey one, looks really good and the SVT Perf. Pack will be a very desireable thing to have for re-sale value down the road if you care about that.

Too bad Ford doesn't phosphate coat the brake rotors on these cars, sure looks crappy having rusty rotors showing through the wheels.

Going on vacation tomorrow and maybe when I get back I'll see if they'll come down a little. If so, great. If not, no big deal. The extra 4 grand I save waiting for mine could go to some nice mods. Then again, a few more months means more down and a lower payment. It's all good.
