SVT Perf Package Stipe Modifications

For those of us that don't like the skinny stripes, I've been playing around with some alternatives. I'm just using MS Paint as I don't have Photoshop at work, so forgive the inferior work. I'll try and make better options and invite others to do the same.

I'm getting a Sterling Grey 500 so I'll be getting the red/black stripes as seen on the ingot silver car.

I think the black up the center may just work and all we'd have to do is buy a Black vinyl stripe in the width of the space and lay it in...

I just can't seem to like the skinny stripes. They remind me of those cheap skinny stripes the dealers put on. I like your black outline one better tho...

Awesome job Ray.

Hey FireDragon, the skinny stripes are VERY similar to the ROUSH stripes that were on the 2005-2009 Roush Mustangs. They used very narrow stripes as well.

They do in a lot of ways, I hear ya. I will eventually pull them off and paint on some nice fat black stripes (with maybe red accent). This won't happen until I get the new hood I want, which senior Management tells me "might" be with the 2010 tax return a year from now. So until then, a $50-$100 vinyl improvement plan is in the works.

Ya know, we have all spent so much time hating the OTT stripes, no one ever made mention of the solid side stripes....

I'll be dumping those for traditional Tri-bar stripes

Red with Black split stripe

This is where MS Paint shows it's limitations, but again, just to get an idea.... seems alot thinner on this photo.

It doesn't look as bad with the black running down the middle.

Another option...

For this one I REALLY need to get into Photoshop and clean it up, but I'm liking this one the most... Took is a step further and matched the sides too...

These are basically what I had hoped the two-tone stripe would have looked like.

Suddenly, I want Ingot Silver... and maybe a vert!

Yeah, but I see more dealer added skinny stripes than ROUSH mustangs around here. But my guess is that if you can afford the GT500, you can pony up for a re-stripe if people aren't happy with the skinnys. Personally, I'd get the GT500 without the SVT package and add performance stuff later.

That and I fell in love with the gray/black GT500 at the Philly car show. Did ya make it there and see it? Gray with black(FAT) stripes and the 2010 wheels.

Man, I never really paid too much attention to that color until I saw it in person. The way it looked with the black stripes and matched the wheels. Pictures don't do it justice!

I like where you are going with this look. I might consider something like that if I end up keeping the SVT PP...right now I'm leaning towards changing my order to just delete the option. However, I'm still waiting to hear if you can get the front seats with the white stripes. If in fact the only option for the interior seat stripes with the SVT PP are white stripes in the back seats and black stripes (aka no stripes) in the front seats, I will most definitely remove the SVT option from my order. I don't know what they were thinking at the unveil, showing white stripes in the back seat and black stripes (no stripes) in the front on the same car. I hope it was a one-off car to show different seating options and NOT what you get with the SVT PP. The combo looked eclectic (not in a good way) and kind of cheap and odd, especially in a $55K+ car.

I would not go with the PP guys. An FR3 suspension kit for the 2011 and new tires for the base 19's would be best. Throw in the gears if you want them too. Can be done for the same price and you don't have to have the ugly stripes and rims. Granted you gain 20 lbs with the base rims but whatever. The base shifter ball is better too.

I agree on the ball shifter.. I'd prefer the stripes on the white ball. I do prefer the PP wheels though (Wife likes standard... go figure).

The stripes are meaningless to me as I have always planned on removing the vinyls and painting them on.

Personally, I'm not looking to toss my 3/36K out the window and like the "from the factory" offering. I bought my '06GT after walking on a "deal" of only 15K over on a 2007 Shelby - figured I'd take a GT and make it a shelby "my way." Well, lack of time assured I never did. I'm learning from that and getting it done right up front. Guess I fall into that 25% of the mix

The more I look at Ford's stripes the more I like them.

The '11 GT500 is big, wide, and high on both the front and rear ends. If anything, the skinny stripe understates the car and makes it look a bit slimmer.

Besides, altering the stock look on the top of the line Mustang just cheapens it.

Yep, gotta say that's an awesome combination. I'm really not loving the skinny stripes..........bigger is better

I have Tungsten Grey now and love it, which is why I ordered Sterling Grey (which is also the color of my MKX). I just don't like the dark rim on the car... It looks like the same color as the body... A little monotone to me.... Yet even the SVT PP rim looks to be that same color.... Really hoping they have a SG car at the NY Show...
