Screwed the pooch today

In my attempts to keep my GT500 from door dings, I scraped a curb with my front right rim and it left a nasty scratch and gouge which is going to cause me a tremendous amount of sleep tonight.

I've inquired about wheel repair shops in the area and can probably get it repaired but the wheel has to come off and I don't want it sitting on a jack stand now that summer has finally arrived in Chicago.

First, does anyone have a 2010 front rim they would sell for a decent price?

I'm also looking at American Muscle 2010 GT500 94-10 (28238) as a temporary replacement while I get the OEM repair. Any input on this option would be highly appreciated. Looking for information on size and fit.

Have you had it done, how's it look, and what can I expect to pay?

Thanks,

Ok here's what little I can offer.

buying an OEM replacement from Ford cost like $1200/wheel. Used set of 4 OEM wheels w/tires are selling on Team Shelby or SVTP or ebay anywhere from $2000 and up.

If you buy a knockoff from AM they only come in 19x8.5 and 19x10 and I think they cost like $190/wheel w/o TPMS. Also they won't match exactly so it will look kind of funky IMO.

If you really want to keep driving the car without waiting and can stomach looking at the scratch, maybe you should just hold off until winter to get the wheel repaired when the car isn't being used...

Thanks,
Had it done twice. Can't see any evidence of repair. $100 each time.

Don't buy a new wheel. You're just going to do it again!

call your local dealer first thing in the morning and ask what the price is for one brand new... make sure you ask for the warranty price. they will give it to you at that if you ask for it. you might have to tell them another dealer will do it for that price

A shop where I had a wheel repaired, here not too far from me, did the job in about two hours so I didn't have to worry with finding a spare.

Had the mobile service out today and they couldn't do anything because the tech said it was chrome. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow where the guy said the wheel is aluminun and he could repair but needs to keep it over night.

I wonder what kind of wheel you have that they were able to do yours.

The GT500 wheels are not chrome. They are forged aluminum. eci has the same wheels you have

Sounds like the guy you used sucks. My guy was mobile, and was in my work parking lot for 1 hour each time. He repaired it then airbrushed and cleared the wheel. Good as new.

I did some research and I verified the wheels are not chrome, I have the wheel off and am taking to the shop tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
