Let the chopping begin *Update

Just some musings

Not for everyone but i dig it.

Going for something a bit more siniseter than the open catfish mouth of the actual 2010 version

Did you put STV because of trademark infringement or just a typo? Not trying to be a ****, just thought I'd point that out.

not a bad chop, but I like the regular version better because it looks more different from the GT

Well, I like the 2010 GT500 as it is, but I also like this 'chop as it falls nicely between the two. What it would make is a great 5.0/302......something to differentiate from the standard GT.

I kinda like the GT500 2010 front better than the base GT.
Your idea looks good too, but I would keep the factory front.

I like all your chops. And I love that you take the time to do 'em and share 'em with us Doug.

They are always appreciated.

Nice rendering, but it looks a little too similar to the GT. Other than the upper and lower grille openings being a "bit" larger than necessary, I don't mind what Ford has done to the Shelby GT500 front end. IDK... how about reducing the upper grille size slightly to put a little more aggression into it, keeping the inboard turn signal/headlight combo, and then combining it with your 'chop of what the 2010 rear end "should have" looked like (although appropriately Shelby-ized)?

I like your chop too Doug!

I have always liked the straight across front edge of the hood just like the 05-09 Shelby GT500 nose swaps using the standard Mustang hoods.

The 2010 looks like it is gasping and can't get enough air.

Thats all I ever wanted to see updated from the 05-09 was to make the grille and headlamp height shorter for an even snarkier look. The straight edge across the top of the hood even with the headlamps does wonders for the look. With what you did it does not even need the body colored painted uprights on the ends of the grille. All this actually lightens and balances the front of the car and gives it a wider looking stance.

Great chops! I like it but would prefer the paint colored grill sides and i feel it needs fogs in the lower bumper somewhere.

Nice quality chop, but don't like the design. It just looks like a 2007-09 GT500 with the new 2010 headlamps. IMHO, that doesn't move the needle as much as is needed to compete with the a new looking Camaro and Challenger.

I don't think sinister has to be sharp edged and pointy. I think the sinister look will come from the mouth protruding past the headlamps.

I like the 2010 GT500- brings the round mouth of the AC Cobras, while also have a natural evolution from today's GT500. Very nice.

This design still has the protruded mouth..the height of the opening just doesn't get any heigher than the headlights..a dreaded mistake I think ford made. My personal opinion of the Grille opening match that of the cobra roadster is...What a rediculous idea! The only thing those two cars should ever have in common is Shelbys name and I'm even opposed to that but that's another story alltogether.
I wasn't looking to create a new car..just something I thought looked better and less Whale Shark and more Mako Shark

As for the dark uprights..I actually did them on a test render about 2 years ago on a Twister i was working on and never finished and Ford did the same thing with the GT so I thought I'd cary my idea over to this one.

I atttached mny unfinished twister, creation date of 7/4/2006
So as you can see the painted uprights are something I've been thinking about for a very long time.
But thanks for the kind words.

The blacked out uprights also IMO give it the vibe of a 69 GT500, one of my personal favorites. whule also balancing out all the black on the backl of the car and matching the blacked out rear panel you may have seen in another render of mine.

I also consider this an SVT Cobra not a Shelby Cobra....one might even say a Colletti SVT Cobra

Hmmm SVT Cobra C. I like that
