Do any of you know what the last date is to order a 2011 Shelby GT500, or has the quota been allocated?

Ordering at this stage can be risky and I believe there is a production limit for GT500s with the SVTPP. It is important to find out first and foremost if the dealer has an allocation specific for a GT500, and second, the availability of the package.

Order banks open for the 2012 GT500 on 11/8/10!

No we're not. The order banks for the 2012 models open in less than a month, and production will begin in Jan. 2011.

 

11 MY Job Last Date: 1/14/11

 

With only 4 days between end of production for 2011 MY and beginning of production for 2012 MY it would seem that there will only be minor/cosmetic changes.

Another forum mentions the 5.4 Supercharged V-8 as a carryover and earlier info mentioned the same Recaro seats as used in the Boss LS to be available in the Shelby GT500. Other than that there were also rumors of color changes.

Does anyone else have any other info?

 

I can't believe they are going to start building the 2012 in January 2011....I thought they wouldn't start until Aug..like most of the other products. Any changes to HP in the 12?

 

Sterling Gray is not available for 2012, otherwise the same colors are available for 2012. Recaro Seats (in three different stripe colors) will be optional for the 2012 GT500.

With SVT capping production of '11 GT500's to just 5500 units, most dealers are long since out of allocation. The dealer I work at is one of those out of allocation. We do have an '11 on the lot now that just arrived (and sale priced below MSRP). Grabber Blue coupe with SVTPP, glass roof, electronics pkg, white stripes, and car cover. 2011 selection nationwide is dwindling, but the '12 GT500's will be basically the same car, so no worries about getting a new GT500 these days.

 

I was just reading about the new supercharger for the 5.0 and am wondering why would Ford offer this at $7500? It boosts the 5.0 to 629 at the crank which will make it faster than both the GT500 and the Boss 302. I know you'd have to pay for and install brakes, suspension etc to make an apples to apples comparo but that's a hell of a deal.

 

FRPP also makes a supercharger upgrade for the Shelby, pounding out 750 hp for less then $7k IIRC.

 

I will see if I can get a good deal on a 2011...if not, I will order a 2012.
