Just signed the papers. Order is in!
Hi guys, this is my second post here so be gentle...
I've been looking around for a good resource on the 2013 GT500 and it looks like I found it. <sticks head in and looks around> Nice place ya got here!
I just put down my deposit on a 2013 GT500. Sterling Gray with Black stripes, SVTPP and Track Pack. Got it for $500 under MSRP. Not a great price probably, but since I was considering a ZL1 with ADM I feel like I just got away with something.
I am excited and nervous. This will be my first muscle car. I am currently selling my modified 2002 911 turbo and wanted to get into something just as fast, American made, cheaper to maintain and with a warranty. I think the GT500 fits the bill. It will be interesting to compare the two cars. My 911 is 520hp at the crank and the boost comes on like a freight train. I am guessing the GT500 will have a more linear feel. Plus, going from AWD with coilovers to RWD with a live rear axle should be a hoot.
i did own a 2002 Z06 at one point, so I am not completely unfamiliar with the feeling. The true test will be on the track. I am really looking forward to Watkins Glen and Lime Rock in this bad boy!
Anyways, I hope in time I can contribute as much info as I take away.
Cheers!

Congrats, but going from a Porsche to a Mustang, hopefullly you won't be let down. I know the Shelby has 650hp and all but, 911 turbo's and GT2's are bad*** rides.

I don't care about the image thing at all. I know some people get hung up on saying they drive a Porsche, but I am just an enthusiast and I like to drive. And when driving is hampered by high repair costs or service visits that are an hour away (my nearest pcar mechanic), then it can get frustrating.
It will be nice to have some American muscle, that is under warranty that I can get serviced down the street and is track ready in stock form.
I will be happy to give a comparison when it delivers.

mega congratulations! I'm sure it will be an amazing car. I'm going to assume that the handling will be less precise and the launch will include more wheel spin. That said, it's going to be a ton of fun.
Enjoy your new car, I hope it's trouble free and completely satisfying in the GO FAST department.

Congratulations Pointby ! Glad to hear of your great buy at such a great price. I hope to soon get enough money together to place my order. Keep us posted as to when you will get the GT500.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. So it sounds like $500 under msrp is not a bad price? Well at least the hard part is over... No, not putting down the deposit, I mean telling my wife. Went better than I thought except for the fact she would have preferred red.
Now the wait. Hmmm... Maybe I should start thinking about aftermarket stuff to pass the time....

Might want to hold off on aftermarket until you know whether the car is enough as it is.
$500 below MSRP is about as good as it gets for a car like this that isn't on lots yet. A year from now, not so good, but I paid MSRP for mine (or will when it shows up and I sign the paperwork) and I feel good about it.
I went with the recaro's because I'll be tracking mine and like how they hold the driver. Aside from that my car has the same options. My wife has made me promise I won't reveal the colors until I have pictures.
