I have golf running through my veins but it bores the heck out if me. Maybe when I'm old.

Snowboarding is not too expensive, but you have to live near a "local" ski area with reasonable lift prices. Those places also tend to have reasonably priced food and drink at the lodge. I know a grand total of one place like that.

I'm only about 2 hours away from Tahoe. The lifts and lodging prices are ridiculous, unless you get in on a groupon. The gear is expensive too, but only if you have to upgrade every year. I've only been a few times and have been lucky enough to borrow everything, but I want my own board and gear eventually.

We go to Monarch, CO. Its a day resort (no lodging at the area) 18 miles west of Salida, right on the continental divide. Only 5 lifts and all natural snow, no snow making. Their tickets just went up from $48 to $52 if you buy them on line. Mainly blue and black runs and a lot of ungroomed, which I really like. I am on my second board, 3rd set of boots and bindings. Not cheap, but way cheaper than ski gear.

Not to swing Gary's thread off topic, but I will help organize golf (unless I have a conference that conflicts with the scheduled dates.) The darn parking lot at the courses will be its own car show too!

Man you gotta believe I don't care if it goes off topic

It really would be awesome.

My question is where am I gonna stay and when is it not too soon or too late to reserve a room for such a large event like this.

Most hotels won't let you reserve a room over a year out . . . unless the Mustang Club has already secured some locations.

I don't. I will call a few hotels tomorrow and ask directly, but usually they won't let you reserve that far out.

That's amazing. If you wait til day of, lift tickets in Tahoe are usually $100+ no matter what resort. The all year passes are a much better deal, but I don't go enough to justify it. At least not yet.
