It's finally here! For real this time!
I have golf running through my veins but it bores the heck out if me.
Maybe when I'm old.

Snowboarding is not too expensive, but you have to live near a "local" ski area with reasonable lift prices. Those places also tend to have reasonably priced food and drink at the lodge. I know a grand total of one place like that.
I'm only about 2 hours away from Tahoe. The lifts and lodging prices are ridiculous, unless you get in on a groupon. The gear is expensive too, but only if you have to upgrade every year. I've only been a few times and have been lucky enough to borrow everything, but I want my own board and gear eventually.

Not to swing Gary's thread off topic, but I will help organize golf (unless I have a conference that conflicts with the scheduled dates.) The darn parking lot at the courses will be its own car show too!

It really would be awesome.
My question is where am I gonna stay and when is it not too soon or too late to reserve a room for such a large event like this.

We go to Monarch, CO. Its a day resort (no lodging at the area) 18 miles west of Salida, right on the continental divide. Only 5 lifts and all natural snow, no snow making. Their tickets just went up from $48 to $52 if you buy them on line. Mainly blue and black runs and a lot of ungroomed, which I really like. I am on my second board, 3rd set of boots and bindings. Not cheap, but way cheaper than ski gear.

how are people supposed to live anymore?!?
