I'm sorry Whammer...but not too sorry.
Though I might have bashed the GT500's of past. I was really waiting to see what the new 2011 had in store. Do I think the older versions are still nose heavy semi-bloated looking hogs at times? Yes. Does the 2011 do what I feel it should for justice in a GT500? Yes.
This is a great article that might have already been posted but here it is again:

This article sums up why I would absolutely LOVE to own a 2011 GT500 with SVT PP. It's gorgeous, fast and turns almost as precisely like a GT. This my friend is what I wanted to see in a GT500.
So I take back some of my prior GT500 bashing.

... It’s impossible not to like the GT500, even if you’re a alterna-chick who probably considers the Prius a wasteful use of the planet’s nickel supply. It’s an unashamed love letter from Ford’s SVT division to traditional America, Friday nights, and pretty girls in halter tops reclining against the Cobra-emblem fender. I’d like to own one myself. I’d fix the brakes and see if I could get the “Shelby” crap off the car. This is an SVT product and it deserves to be badged as such. With all respect to the chicken farmer and his long legacy of suing everybody from his friends to his fans, there’s no reason to have the Shelby name on this Mustang. SVT Cobra should suffice...
There is a mustang for everyone, that was basically Ford's thinking almost 50 years ago and it's still true today.
I don't think any mustang has ever had the looks of the 07-09 GT500's. That's one big reason I just could not part with my car. And soon it will be a Super Snake and that jacks the looks up to an even higher level.
I'm really not that concerned with 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times, or even how it handles on a twisting road course. I finally realized that I don't drive my car under any of those conditions.
I do however drive my car on the street and never once has the fact that it's nose heavy been an issue for me. I also will find a nice quiet country road and rip through the gears and I'm anticipating quite a blast with 725HP under the hood.
I think the new 5.0's are an awesome car, the Boss 302 will set a new standard in track performance and the 2011 GT500's are one hell've a car. If I had the money I would own them all. But my funds are limited and I will have to suffice with a car that I'm sure has never been seen on the streets of my city.

I forgot to say congrats on undergoing the Super Snake process! That should be awesome. Try to drive it with the direction of the earth's spin, otherwise you might slow the earth's rotation and cause us to loose our orbit.
Kidding aside, that super snake is just wicked. I hope it's pretty street-able. Are you getting the Alcoa wheels to match?? They are sliiiiiiiiiick!

You're right about the driving conditions. In the regular world, the GT500 is more than enough for anything and is very awesome in the wild. I should have thought of this before I knocked it. I do think that the GT500 is the Mustang to have in the 05-09 body style. It's apparent it is the King $#it of the early S197's.

Yes I'm getting the wheels. They are all part of the package. The parts for the car are shipped in from Las Vegas and when the car is completed a Shelby rep inspects that car to make sure everything has been done in order for it to be a Super Snake. The rep then applies the SS badging, dash plaque and SS engine badge.

I think Shelby gets a bad rap from some folks. He took back the rights from a couple of guys who were making a fortune off of him. I see nothing wrong with that, everyone of us would want to protect our name from people who were ripping others off.
He's a Legend and many times people are jealous of people like that.

Because of the costs of Shelby's replacement goods in the marketplace, houtex determined that Shelby's products at their current costs were not for him. He made an informed decision. Perhaps Shelby's business model is askew. He possible could have charged less for these parts and thereby sold more.
We will never know...
But at least by defending himself from copycat thieves, he retains the ability to overcharge for his trademark products without interference, right?
Unfortunately the price of litigation to claim what's rightfully yours from a bunch of pirates and infringers means that your own production costs will go up by some measurable margin as these legal proceedings do cost money and often time the loser doesn't have the money to pay for the damage its done or simply files bankruptcy and avoids it altogether.
But one cannot let piracy go unchecked.
Unless you're the Red Chinese government.

Would that include AmyB? Was her departure due to lack of loyalty, job performance, or commitment to Shelby or his company on her part? Keep in mind she was instrumental in Shelby's resurrection and subsequent successes.
At the end it mattered little just as previous associations and just as how devoted fans are actually viewed which is the saddest part. Unfortunately there is perception and then there is reality.
