Having problems removing OEM shifter

I'm trying to replace the stock 2011 GT500 shifter with an MGW Gen2 shifter but I am having trouble removing the driver side shifter arm retainer pin on the tranny. I was able to remove the passenger side with a lot of effort, but the driver side was impossible! I was able to unlock the pin and force the pin upwards but cannot pull it out at all! Seems like it is loctited in there! I tried moving the pin up and down to loosen (very tight), tried WD-40, and also tried disconnecting the linkage arm to get more play to wiggle the support arms, but nothing worked. Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Hardly any room in there to use any tools (I did remove the tranny support to lower it a bit).

There's definitely not much room.
Sometimes removing the reverse solenoid is needed to get some more room.
You should just have to flip up the tab on the clip, then pull it out.
I haven't heard of them being stuck in there.
The insulation and simply the lack of room makes it difficult
Hope these pics help:
