Does the S197 GT350 actually exist?

I see the article on the front page that "Shelby Will stop production of the GT350....." I have seen photos of the car, but I have never ever seen one. I remember the Shelby GT back in 07 or 08 that had that hood scoop with the rivits around the edges of it, but I Have never seen a 350. I have seen a whole lot of 500's, even a couple super snakes, just crusiing, sitting in showrooms, dealer lots, etc. I even work at a ford dealership, never have seen any evidence that there is a GT350. Granted I haven't looked too hard, but still....anybody?

Yes ! They do indeed exist, however you could only order them direct from the Shelby facility in Las Vegas which is why you didn't see them on Ford dealership lots/showrooms ect.

I actually saw 2 GT 350's at one of my local car cruise events here in Western PA..

Yeah or you can just order one and they handle it all. The one I posted was for an old guy and it was an auto which I though was just wrong.

Unlike the 07-08 Shelby GT in which a customer's stock Mustang GT is sent and then modified at the Shelby facility.. The GT350's are built exclusively from the ground up by Shelby Automobiles at Las Vegas.. As they are not modified or converted Mustang GT's at all...

You might also be able to place an order thru Ford, however you just simply cannot buy one at your local Ford Dealership !

Interesting. Honestly, I don't really like how it looks. I was looking around at the build your own option on the shelby website, and what's the point? Just get a GT500

Dave ! In my post, I stated that unlike a customer's GT which is sent and then converted into an 07-08 Shelby GT.. The GT-350 clearly is not..

Shelby Automobiles build the GT-350's in house at their facilities in Las Vegas..

What I meant by not modifying or converting a regular Mustang GT into the Shelby GT-350 was an existing customer's car that is shipped to Shelby Auto's for conversion as it was with the Shelby GT from 07-08..

I also stated in my original post, the GT-350 can only be ordered directly thru Shelby Auto's but in my last post, I stated that a customer MAY be able to place an order thru Ford, I didn't say for certain as that was just an assumption on my part..

At any rate, my apologies for not being more specific earlier..

I had an '08 Shelby GT. It was one one of my favorite cars that I've ever owned. I loved that car. It hit all the marks just right. Wasn't the fastest or baddest car around, but it just worked. I loved it, the way it looked, handled, and appeared to the public. It was just a pleasure to drive and cruise around in or hammer on down a curvy road. I loved it.

Last summer Tasca Ford in RI had one in its showroom. If I remember the sticker was 95k and they were looking for closer to 130k for it.

But you bought it from the showroom of your Ford dealer as is.

You didn't have to "send it in"

Ford sent it straight from Flat Rock on their own to Shelby.

When I bought my black 07 GT the dealer had a black SGT and a black GT500 on the showroom floor. Of course they also had a PJ too.

Problem as they wanted $10k over the sticker for all 3 of them. I knew I couldn't swing the GT500 or PJ at the time but it would have been nice to have at least gotten the SGT for sticker.

Oh well. I made my own GGT as a result.

Even though it was just a modified GT, I'd also be very proud to own a Shelby GT just for the fact it was modified by Shelby Automobiles and signed by Carroll Shelby himself..

IMHO, it's just as authentic of a Shelby as the GT500 and perhaps even more so being as it only had a 2 year limited edition production run and was actually customized at the Shelby facility in Las Vegas..

That's why I waited to the end of the last model year for them when they realized that not only were they not going to be able to sell them for a mark up, but couldn't even get sticker price. Offered them about $6K below sticker price for one of the 3 they'd had sitting there for 8 months and they took it. I'm a cheap ***.

There are three on the lot at chapman ford in Scottsdale. I think it's chapman. They're on the dealers website with pics.

Perhaps Chapman Ford is an authorized Shelby dealership, but I can tell you from personal experience, I have never seen a Shelby GT-350 in any Ford/SVT Dealership here in Western, PA and we have quite a few SVT and Roush Dealerships around here
