Shelby underwent a heart transplant in 1990. A year later he founded the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation, now known as the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which originally financed organ transplants for children, then expanded to provide educational assistance for young people.

That might throw a monkey wrench on Ford's next gen high performance model name, perhaps bad news for those seeking the '13 GT500, and greedy Ford dealers will likely attempt to cash in on his departure.
