Car and Driver rides shotgun in a 2013 Shelby GT500
I didn't see this posted anywhere, so thought I'd share. Thus far, the 2013 Shelby sounds like it's going to be bad-f'ing-a**!
"It’s likely that the 2013 Shelby coupe will start at less than $60,000 when it appears in dealerships in May, but not by much. Production is “limited” to how many the company can sell—Ford would be happy with 10,000 a year—and there will be no effort to cap the run at a certain number."
"The suspension does a remarkable job of keeping the tires planted coming off elevation changes, and there is no perceptible body roll. Stability control can be turned off entirely, of course, but it’s so good in sport mode that you have to wonder if you need to."
"Getting the adjustable-effort, electric-boosted power steering right was a challenge, said SVT technical specialist Eric Zinkosky. He told us he spent so much time tuning hydraulic boost on previous Mustangs that he almost cried when he learned he’d have to do the same with the electric unit. 'But I challenge anyone to drive this car, then drive a BMW and say we don’t have comparable feel. We think it’s that good.'"
