Brake Duct Options for 2013 GT 500 with Track Package
Brake Duct Options for 2013 GT 500 with Track Package
Can anyone advise what the options are for providing brake ducts on the new 2013 Shelby GT500? I am aware that ordering the Track Package does not substitute ducts for the fog lamps in the lower front fascia and that the edges of the lower grill opening flows air to the remote oil cooler in the left front wheel well (at least on the driver's side); but if you're going to track the car, you need the ducting.
On the Boss 302 you have the ability to duct to the brakes by replacing the faux ducts in the lower bumper; and FRPP just announced a new ducting system for the 2013 Mustang Part # M-2004-MBA which replaces the fog lights ...but does that include the 2013 GT500? Can anyone advise?
Thanks

I've installed that kit on my '11 and it's pretty straight forward. I don't know if the inlet ducts are the same on the '13 nose. IF they are it's a piece of cake. The only mod you need is a spacer for the orange ducting to the back of the bumper. If they do end up the same and you go for it, PM me and I'll turn you onto the spacers you can get from your local Home Depot!

PM Replied.
To Clarify the Boss 302 kit really isn't that many pieces as you can tell from looking at the info. There is a possibility the backing plate (sheet metal) *could* be different between the 4 piston and the 6 piston but as long as that piece is the same the rest should be a snap.*
* again assuming the nose has the ports like the 11 and 12.

Yeah ummm we're taking the fog lights out of our cars if we want brakes
Well at least you are, I don't have the track pack.
You could do some phantom brake ducts that just pull from the wheel well and are powered by fans.

That's not necessarily true. If you have the Track Pak then there are transmission and differential coolers which are ducted to from the openings at either side of the lower grill area of the 2013 GT500. You can't necessarily get the air from the front of the car to the brakes via these openings.
It looks like you either remove the fog lights and duct through those openings, or cut/mold in new openings in the lower valance to get air to the front brakes.
I've emailed FRPP on a couple of occasions with questions about how to duct the brakes, but although I received an initial response, I've not heard from them again.
Here's a couple of photos of the openings and the radiators behind them.

The transmission oil cooler goes across the radiator, the rear axle oil cooler is behind the passenger side opening in the lower grill and the engine oil cooler is behind the drivers side opening on the lower grill.
Great Photos without the Front Bumper
Mustangs Daily's piece on the building of the 2013 Shelby Super Snake has a couple of great photos which show what's behind the bumper, and the coolers that are fed by the ducts on either side of the lower grill opening.
Also, what may be in the way if you want to run brake ducting..........
