The novelty of Mustang nostagia has leveled off. It will be interesting at what price it sells and whether it even comes close to the selling price of the '07 GT500.

It's all a tax write-off
The car will sell in the same price range as the 2012 Grabber Blue Boss 302 that they sold last year for $450k, with the money going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It's all a tax write-off for the buyer, less the actual value of the car....which I'm confidant that BJ won't disclose.

I hope to be there in-person again this year. I'm guessing Ron Pratt will buy it...

The car being auctioned is a durability test car that was run at Sebring.
Who knows you might even recognize a certain someone on the block with the car
it should cross the block around 8:30pm Saturday

This Shelby GT500 Durability Car is a rare piece of muscle car history, and is the car that the SVT team and Carroll Shelby signed off at the racetrack. It is the genesis and inspiration for today's Shelby GT500 production Mustangs that are available at Ford dealerships nationwide. "I'm really proud to have my name on this car that you guys [Ford SVT Team] have put together working with my dreams of what I think a car should be. And you made it that and more," said Carroll Shelby. This Shelby GT500 Durability Car was designed and engineered by the Ford SVT team working together with Carroll Shelby. Ford SVT assembled much of this GT500 Durability by hand and then tested it on Sebring International Raceway, the High-speed Oval track at the Arizona Proving Ground, as well as the Route 66 road course, among others. It was personally piloted by Carroll Shelby during many hours of its testing. As a result of its testing, this Durability Car allowed the production GT500 to feature a 5.8L supercharged aluminum-block V8 engine cranks out 650hp and 600 lb/ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful cars ever built. Handling is world-class with a TORSEN limited-slip differential, carbon fiber one-piece drive shaft, front and rear Bilstein adjustable dampers, performance-tuned front and rear springs and front and rear stabilizer bars. The car stops on a dime with 6-piston Brembo front brake calipers, ABS Ventilated 4-wheel disc brakes and Electronic brake distribution. This vehicle is sold on a bill of sale; it cannot be titled and will be registered in the Official Shelby American Registry. **All PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT JDRF** **SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY** **WILL BE SOLD AT APPROXIMATELY 8:30PM SATURDAY JANUARY 21,2012**

Nice to know the buyer can actually get the car that is present at the auction then having to wait for the first production model. However, not being able to drive it on the street is not so good.

The gentleman that will most likely buy it probably doesn't care about that.

* This racetrack durability car was put through the paces at historic Sebring International Raceway by the Ford SVT development team and Carroll Shelby. It was originally built in 2007 as one of the first Shelby GT500s with the body updated for the 2010 model year

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 18, 2012 - Ford is giving muscle car enthusiasts a rare opportunity to bid on the racetrack durability car used to develop the 2013 Shelby GT500 production Mustang. The car will be auctioned at the 41st Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz..
The sale will raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). On the auction stage will be Ford's President of The Americas, Mark Fields, and members of SVT. The event will be televised live on SPEED Channel.
The durability car was built in 2007 - one of the first vehicles with the new 2010 body. Then, for the 2013 model, the prototype was run for 24 hours at top speeds of 150 mph at Sebring to ensure all systems function properly for customers who will replicate such grueling conditions.
The car includes a full roll cage, six-point harness seatbelts and new Recaro racing seats that were donated by Recaro North America, identical to those used in development. The production 2013 Shelby GT500 will be available with optional SVT-designed Recaro seats. Evidence of instrumentation from development also can be found inside the vehicle. Each member of SVT engineering who worked on the 2013 Shelby GT500 has signed the underside of the trunk lid.
"I raced on the Sebring International racetrack for many years, but my ambition was always to build my own car," said Carroll Shelby. "It was exciting to be back to collaborate on this GT500 durability car with the SVT guys. I'm really proud to have my name on this car. They took my dreams of what a car should be and made it a reality."
All proceeds from the auction of the car will benefit JDRF, a leader in research leading to a cure for Type 1 diabetes. During the past five years, Ford has raised more than $3 million for charity through sales of vehicles at Barrett-Jackson auctions.
"When the Ford SVT team and Carroll Shelby collaborate on a car, you know it's going to be firing on all cylinders," said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "We have a long history of working with Ford and Carroll and are excited to have this one-of-one durability car cross our auction block in Scottsdale to benefit a very worthy charity."
2013 Ford Shelby GT500
The ultimate Ford Mustang - Shelby GT500 - raises the bar high on performance by delivering 650 horsepower and a test track top speed of more than 200 mph. The 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block engine produces 650 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful production V8 in the world.
Nearly every part of the powertrain has been optimized for producing the additional horsepower, including a new supercharger, new cross-drilled block and heads, updated camshaft profiles, a new carbon fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle.
Plus, nearly every gear on the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 has been revised to manage the torque and use more of the power in a way that makes it more driver-friendly.
The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be built at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich.

Shaun, the following shot is very telling.
If you can, I'm wondering about a few things. I'm aware that the TR6060 was upgraded but I can't find any data as to whether or not the physical exterior dimensions changed or whether the splines at the rear are any different than the '07-'12 GT500 TR6060. I ask because I'm hoping that the CF shaft will be a bolt in. I've asked but nobody from FRPP (that I knew anyway) could answer.
The catcons will be the most sought after to date. Can you comment on any physical size changes as well as the internals? I'm already looking for a take-off '13 H-pipe for my Whippled '09. None of the available aftermarket cats last very long. My hope is that these can handle the added heat, flow, etc.
Good to hear about your involvement in this project. I wish you continued success!
