Article slams 2013 GT500 Convertible as 'death trap'
The dude is a tool. You build it because you think the market will support it. I mean if that the case then why even have 650hp in a coupe. That would be his next argument next year.
There's a lot of stupid people in this world doing a lot of really stupid things in a POS Toyota or Kia that could kill people too. Like some idiot who runs through a farmers market or some old man who gets confused. Everybody needs to fix their own **** before they start fixing mine. I've got this covered. Leave me the **** alone with your Nanny state liberal 'journalism'.

You know what other convertibles are death traps, the Fiat and Smart Car. I can't imagine the driver coming out ok if in an accident with anything bigger than itself.
I would like to think the owner of the new GT500 would be more responsible, but yet I continue to be surprised all the time. It's ok...the writer probably drives a Prius and would never understand.

Thanks for your expert opinion, Keith.
He has his points bass ackwards. He's concerned about a 650hp convertible, but a 420hp one is ok...
Truth is if you do a roll over in a 200hp convertible (at any highway speed) you're still dead...
Article is a moot point.

It'll be interesting to see how the '13 is electronically limited, speed wise. Ford has said the car (the coupe) topped 200. That doesn't mean they won't regulate the production model - specifically the convertible. I've never heard mention that the S197 ragtop stays in place at those speeds. Has anyone else?

The poor guy involved was actually split/smashed into 2 pieces- (there's gruesome photos out there...). But by the writer's submission- because it's 75hp it's ok to have. lol These are coffin cars. They should just pick the whole thing up and put it in a plot. Sorry but worst car ever in order to save $5-800 on gas/year... not worth it.
Somehow the Japanese have avoided the soft-top performance competition and so have the Koreans, which just seem to abhor the idea of convertibles in general. The Asian manufacturers have a reputation for long-term planning. They must know there is no sane reason for high-performance convertibles and I applaud them for that.
Hope no one tells him about this 680 HP car

This horsepower arms race among convertibles has to stop. OEMs need to demonstrate some self-control. Sometimes the customer isn't always right. This is one of those times. By the way, I know some people are going to consider my views idiotic. Convince me I'm wrong.
Hey, Keith, move out of your mother's basement and get a life. A death trap is the idiot texting at 75 and crossing the center divider, running a red light, etc. It doesn't really matter if he has 75 hp or 700 hp.
As far as "what I need"...all the power I can afford. It is called freedom of choice. And, no I am not going to buy one, but I support everyone's right to do so. I am happy with my 412 hp GT/CS, but others are not. That is what this country is all about...to each his own.

God I love the internet. One clown writes an opinion and they're instantly famous due to the 100,000,000 multiplier effect of people overreacting in ways that make the original opinion seem tame by comparison!

haha pretty much....I'd never go that fast in one...not to mention if you're going towards 200mph you're screwed in any car anyway...
he's taking responsibility of the driver...if driven responsibly and within the limits of the law(which I know we all do every time we drive
) then there's not difference between this and 250hp convertible.

If I bought a convertible, the first thing I would do is put a rollbar in it. Rollbars in convertibles just look so purposefull and cool. A rollbar could be used as an attachment point for the top from keeping the top from billowing up at speed. I would think regular convertible tops would want to start flapping at over 120 mph or at even less mph.
