2013 Splitter Installed...
ITEM:
2013 Shelby GT500 Air Dam, Part# DR3Z-63001A04-AA
INSTALLATION:
… was a breeze. Removed/Reinstalled 12 fasteners and add the 8 supplied edge biter clips to affix the 3 piece unit to the existing splitter. The center section is installed first w/2 fastener, and then the side sections clip into the center… Installed the remaining 10 fastener and the 8 clips- finished. Installation time- approximately 20 minutes.
APPEARANCE:
While the OEM splitter is aesthetically fine and I’m sure that it serves a genuine purpose, this little addition enhances the overall menacing scowl of the front clip. From certain angles, it almost resembles fangs, which compliments the Cobra’s mystic… or something like that. Actually, the only reason why I installed this splitter was for looks as I always liked the lower chin spoiler appearance. While CDC, Cervini, etc., manufactured chin spoilers, nothing appealing was available for the GT500… until now.
APPLICATION:
I never planned on breaking any speed barriers so I’ll never personally know if it actually improves aerodynamics, but it certainly can’t hurt… It’s 2” lower on the edges, and 1’ lower in the center. Ground clearance is approximately 4 ¼” on the sides, and about 5 1/8” in the center (NOTE: the car is lowered w/FRPP springs).
CONCLUSION:
This splitter extension is a subtle mod and by no means overwhelming. As such, I like it… and if I decide later that I don’t, then it’ll come off as easily as it went on... hopefully at my discretion and not at the fate of a curb.
