Not to get off topic but what is Focus pricing looking like? I might trade up from my Fiesta next year. I would have bought the Focus this year but it's such a dated car.

 

Hold on to your seats for this one. 2012 Focus base MSRP starts around $16,500 - give or take a few bucks. Check off all the options on the new top-of-the-line Titanium trim hatchback, and it is possible to push the MSRP to around $29,500! I suspect the average model with moderate options will be in the low $20's.

 

Is the pricing guide floating around the web yet? I'd like to config one the way I want. I wonder what the ST will come in at?

 

There is no ST model for 2012 in the US. The line up is: S (sedan only), SE, SEL, and Titanium.

2012 Focus S Sedan MSRP starts at $16,995, SE Hatchback MSRP starts at $18,790. SE adds $1K over the S. SEL adds $3K over the SE. Titanium adds $2K/$1700 over SEL on Sedan/Hatchback.

No build & price yet at Ford's website, nor is the price guide out on the web yet that I've seen, but you could check the Focus websites out there.

Basically, the 2012 Focus is a much nicer car than the 2011, so it moves up in price, allowing the Fiesta to slot below it (Fiesta MSRP starts at $13,995, $3K below the 2012 Focus). However, add a few options, and a 2012 Focus is overlapping Fusion & Mustang V6 pricing!

 

Getting back to the 2012 GT500, I hope Ford is listening and considers ditching the thin over the top stripes on the SVTPP GT500s. I love the idea of getting a new GT500 with this option but as silly as it sounds I hate the look of the thin stripes and would probably "settle" for a base GT500 because of it. ( I also like the look of the base wheels over the SVTPP)

What does everyone else think?

Though the SVTPP is a great option do you feel the base GT500 is more attractive?

 

Get the SVTPP with the strip delete, buy and apply the 'base' GT500 stickers.

Distinction. The wheels and stripes are the exterior cue to the package which beat having stickers or emblems.

Your dealer might give you a break on the price of the wider stripes. Normally they might be about $800, you might get them for $400.

The GT500 I'm looking at has SVTPP with stripe delete. It's black and I'm thinking of wide red stripes. Dealer will do it for $500, normal price is 1k (in Canada). Called their parts department and 1 side rocker stripe is $250!!

 

I guess I'd go with a stripe delete in the worse case scenario or pick up a non SVTPP car for the right price, I just wish I could pull the trigger on one now but it may be a year or two due to some new investments.

If I don't plan on auto crossing the car is the SVTPP really worth it for me? Either way it will be a huge step forward for me in terms of power and refinement from what I'm used to right now. I get in the grand scheme of things it's not a huge added cost but not sure if it is worth it now that I been seriously considering the purchase.

 

The way I look at is this: if it's a suspension, handling or traction option, I'll usually find a vehicle with those manufacturer's option on it since it's significantly cheaper to buy it from the factory than it would be to assemble the parts and pay for the labor afterwards.

It sounds like you aren't thrilled to spend the coin to get the option for something you think you won't need or use. But consider the cost of improving the suspension components you would like to have afterwards (may not include all the upgrades feature in the SVTPP but include part cost, shipping and labor to install). Compare that to the SVTPP option cost and in this way, you can fairly judge if the option is worthwhile to you or not. The other benefit of the SVTPP option is it comes with the 3yr/36k mile factory warranty. If you decide to later upgrade suspension components, it may or maynot have a parts+labor warranty.

 

What's wrong with getting the stripe delete and then striping it how you want?

 

Anyone think that the SVTPP 19X10 wheels on Ford's site will show up on some sort of 2012 package? It would be nice to see it with a 295/305 tire on it.

 

I guess for me it goes beyond the appearance of the SVTPP, part of me feels that I would be more than satisfied with a "base" GT500. I guess if I find an SVTPP car for the right price I may spring for the extra couple bucks. If I was to buy one now I would not modify the suspension in any way to be honest my only mod would probably be a cat back exhaust and that is about it... I love how well equipped the new cars are.

 

I doubt it. Seems like Ford Racing parts are always close, but not exact parts that are available as a Ford service part. I can imagine they wouldn't want to sell the same thing at a different price or as a different part # based on FRPP or service items.
