I have the misfortune of having a similar local Ford dealer. Since 2007 I have not seen them have a GT500 on the sales floor for MSRP. Right now they currently have a 2010 GT500 vert with a 10k markup.

That is a riot! lol It is so true it is amazing how many people got and still are getting duped into paying ADMs thinking these cars will be collector cars. I have a neighbor who payed $25,000 above MSRP to get one of the very first GT500s in the Summer of 2006. Last year he offered to sell it to me for $42,000 I showed him ebay listings for loaded 2008-2009 models with things not available at launch (navigation, ambient lighting, HIDS) for less then the 42k he was asking and he was stunned....

Although they really can't do anything, dealers like this should be reported to Ford corporate. These ridiculous markups kill the ability to sell a vehicle, and give those honest, reputable dealers a bad image. I'm sure if the same complaints started to form against a dealer, they might reconsider granting them the ability to sell the SVT models, while another local dealer with a good reputation might miss out.

This is just a "what-if" scenario, but the brand image as a whole could be improved if we weeded out the shady dealers.

Unless I'm mistaken the year with the least number of GT500's produced was in 2009 with a little over 3,000. I don't see how limiting production to almost twice that is going to be a big deal.

Ford Corporate doesn't care. In fact regional reps gloat to other dealers when a dealer gets a huge profit on a car. The only thing they care about is their bottom line.

I know that's the case, but I wish it wasn't.

Love stories of greedy speculators getting burned.
