The '13 GT500 5.8L in a Ford GT
The point for me wouldn't be to just increase power because the GT's power can be upped waaay past 650 quite easily.
I just think the new 5.8 fits the character of the GT more than the old 5.4. And I'd love to see the effect on performance. Heck I'd also love to see some of the suspension stuff for the new gt500 on there too!
Basically what I wanna see is a new Ford GT
correct
I think the GT was rated at 550.

there are many guys boosting big power in those cars with the 5.4 already.
the gt does not need any suspension help from the stang...it's one hell of a chassis set up already.
I totally agree that ford would be wise to do a new GT - and why not adopt / build a new cobra roadster too - that would be sweeeeet.
I would LOVE a new Ford GT. It is my ultimate dream car (Heritage Blue/Epic Orange with #9 on the side and small Gulf logos on the nose and in front of the doors please).
The HP on the 5.4 was 550 but that was SEVERELY underrated. Some cars were pushing well over 650. I know of a GT pre-production car that was on a dyno and it made 565 to the rear wheels and it was spinning on the dyno drum. I just wish we could see a follow-up to one of the greatest sports car every built before the feds make the MPGs too high.

Someone on TMS (maybe nota4re) puts twin turbos on the GT and boosts it to 1000hp (or maybe 1100). I believe there is a thread on it. But I could be imagining that.
Remember the reports earlier this year about Ford having an internal program to revive the Ford GT?

If true, the 5.8 could go into the redesigned Ford GT which would also help justify the $$ cost Ford put into the development of making the 5.8. The rumored electric motor launch assist on the new Ford GT will enable it to devour any Viper or Corvette that is in the works by Dodge or GM. After launch the S/C 5.8 should easily keep it out front.

Honestly I'd be all for either idea. A new pantera or GT with the 5.8 at its heart would make the exotics pee their pants.
I feel like Ford has done such a good job with the GT500, let's conquer the super car world too

Put the 5.8 in a Raptor. That would be insane.
The 5.8 motor won't work as well as the 5.4 due to the lack of a dry sump oil system. I'd be fine with a Heffner twin turbo set up putting out around 1000hp.

Little birdie told me that there was indeed a program to revive a GT successor. It was shelved in order to focus on other FORD products and then Lincoln was next in line mostly due to cash not being available.

Yes, that would be a most interesting vehicle, love to see it also but it is not going to happen.
