Anyone going to send their 2012 GT500 to Shelby to have a 1000 horsepower Super Snake produced ?

Or you could save $200K and get it done by anyone other than Shelby.

Several tuners offering 1,000, 1,200, & 1,500 hp packages for the GT500 @ more reasonable prices.

Is it me, or are these gigapower Mustangs just turning into a silly pissing contest? Even the current GT500 at 650hp is a bit of a challenge to actually put that power down in an actually usable way. Just seems like a lot of money for a lot of basically unusable power.

Perhaps the focus should be on better utilizing the already very ample power the GT500 has, that's where the most room for real world improvement lies, IMHO.

What really surprised me about the picture I saw of the Shelby 1000 horsepower GT500 was the battery was in the engine compartrment. You would think the Shelby engineers would have placed the battery in the trunk. If I had a 1000 horsepower GT500, I would want to increase the rear weight to get better traction. Why would anyone want a heavy object like a battery in the front of the car ?

Shelby engineers??? Shelby is just about worthless numbers...How much they can overcharge, and how much unusable power they can advertise. If you want actual performance, look elsewhere...no suprise there.

The 1000 horsepower Super Snake is suppose to come in two versions, a street version and a track only version. The street version is to have 950 HP and the track only version has 1100 HP. Since one must send their own GT500 for SS conversion, the vin number would still be the same so the track version should be legal to drive on the street, dont you think ?

Not if they put some things on there that are street illegal in some states.

Talking

Ya, I suppose the track only Shelby would not meet emission levels and the exhaust is probably too loud. In states that do not require emission checks, it might be possible to put mufflers on and drive the track only car on the street.

It does not appear there is anyone on this forum who is intent on getting a 1000 horsepower Shelby Mustang. I just wonder how many Shelby 1000 Mustangs will be sold. 10 or less ?

Shelby will sell all that he builds, because it is a limited edition. there are plenty of people out there with 200K to throw @ a car....it just isn't you or me.

Saw a 458 Italia today at a Cheddar's restaurant, and thought to myself, "I could have a 5000 sq. ft. house on several acres of land for what the owner paid for this car." Some people have more money than they know what to do with. Those are the people who will buy the Shelby 1000. They'll also dump it off when the next "collectible" comes around.

Not in SoCal it would be half that square footage and be in the deep desert area. LOL

Half even sounds like a bit much for that price

Which is why I don't live in California.

In all honesty, sometimes I feel sorry for y'all and the cost of living over there. I had a friend move from Houston to Los Angeles, and he said on average things are about 2.5 times more expensive than they were for him in Texas. He took a big raise, but said his standard of living is actually lower out there than it was back here.

It would be awesome to have all that extra money, but I love it here. I can't live anywhere else.
