Performance And Tech

Lets use this area to discuss performance and technical items:nice:

DavidM 6/10/07 11:56 AM

Here is a kit that I was looking at. Intercooled Vortech SC system. just over $4500

http://www.lethalperformance.com/pag...ler-satin.html

Ever since I saw the SC's of Jeff and Jeremy I am salivating. But my budget is not up to par for a KB right now. But I might be able to swing a vortech sooner. What do you think.

Shelby10' 6/10/07 12:11 PM

Me likey!!

2006GT 6/10/07 12:28 PM

Go for the polished!

DavidM 6/10/07 12:34 PM

Polish? I like mine with sourkrout. LOL

Shelby10' 6/10/07 12:48 PM

Hey David I found this for you.... looks like its just what you need.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/f...ist-58001.html

DavidM 6/10/07 01:13 PM

Very interesting. I will add this to my to do list. Perhaps the next tech day I will have this to fab up.

How are the relo brackets working? Any vibrations or strange sounds (other than your own flatulance)?

Shelby10' 6/10/07 01:21 PM

I am having a faint sound from the rear end... not sure what it is. I think its fine...it should be.

DavidM 6/10/07 01:39 PM

Might be settling in. I would let it settle for a week or so and recheck the bolts to make sure they are tight.

2006GT 6/10/07 01:47 PM

What's the sound?? Did you grease those babies up real good?

Shelby10' 6/10/07 02:28 PM

Here are the line locks in action David :)

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/f...1e01613404.htm

Shelby10' 6/10/07 02:28 PM

Not sure about the sound its a soft whirling sound... not like my gears.

Shelby10' 6/10/07 02:31 PM

Heres another David

Shelby10' 6/10/07 02:33 PM

Heres a link to the everything but the silinoids. If you read below they suggest the jegs

I say whatever your budget allows go for it.... I've seen several pics lately of that system... Looks good!!!!:nice:

Have you looked at the basic Whipple blowers. They are about the same price with easy upgrades later when the budget allows!!

http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/...sp?ProdID=1208

Just food for thought. Either way that car will look and run great!!!!

cobra4548 6/10/07 07:14 PM

I agree with Chris427...go with what will make you happy.

As for me, the next up for performance would be panhard bar, panhard brace and front and rear sway bars...

DavidM 6/10/07 07:29 PM

I would agree Jeff. Please adjust that suspension and get some really sticky tires. So I wont be afraid to ride in that thing again. LOL

Shelby10' 6/10/07 09:03 PM

Hey Jeff I would also be looking into brakes or for now some aggressive brake pads to help you stop. "If your going to go fast, you have to be able to slow fast". just my .02

DavidM 6/10/07 09:16 PM

Guys here is the Kit that I was telling some of you about from Vortech. SQ trim boosts the power to 420 at the fly. It is a you build the fuel system and provide the tune kit. Non intercooled but the aftercooler, or smaller pulley could be added later. Haven't looked into the cost of injectors, boost a pump, and tune yet, but this might be an option to build it a little at a time.

http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...asp?T1=VT11+01

Shelby10' 6/10/07 09:19 PM

Dang thats cheap for what it is!! Let us know what it will cost to complete the kit

DavidM 6/11/07 06:57 AM

I will research the prices to see if it is worth it or not. I think the fuel system upgrades will be around 500 or so. Injectors, boost a pump. Also need cooler spark plugs which will be like 100 bucks or so. Then if I want the after cooler and smaller pulley I think another 5-600 is in order. So like an additional 1000 on top of the base kit. Then there is the custom tune so like another 150 or so. Looking at under 4000 I think for the whole thing. Unless I don't go with the aftercooler right away then 3500 bucks could get me there.

DavidM 6/11/07 08:13 AM

For anyone who is interested in some cheap take off wheels here is a deal to consider for drag radials.

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=65968

Shelby10' 6/11/07 10:34 AM

man I wish I had the money :( budget wont allow for it right now

Shelby10' 6/11/07 11:54 AM

This is just a reminder to us all to be safe while driving. Speed does kill and shows no mercy. No matter who is challenging you or how much you want to show off, resist the temptation, it just might save your life.

I saw myself in some of those clips. They looked just like Sat. Very close call. Very close indeed.

Shelby10' 6/11/07 02:46 PM

Thank God your ok David.... I mean who would bring the beer to shelby if you had died??

cobra4548 6/11/07 02:50 PM

Haha, very funny...

Shelby10' 6/11/07 02:55 PM

Hey David... here are some ideas to get your 60ft times down. Some of the launch RPMs are crazy, but may work. Your clutch is going to take some abuse though :)

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/f...mes-86197.html

osudoc21 6/11/07 03:55 PM

sounds like i left to early!

well i put the springs on this morning (had the day off since i worked all weekend), David, seeing yours go on helped a lot!

The pulleys are in, maybe after the shelby meet i could get the pulley master to help me put them on!

Looked at the pics of the weekend Tech meet. Your car is one sharp ride!!!!:nice:

Your're right....I apologize if you wet your pants, I know I did. No more show boating for me in that thing. It's nice to have the power but until I have a Bob suspension it just won't handle as well. Jarrod is also right about the brakes. I have been considering the Rotopros slotted and drilled with the Hawks pads just to keep it under control...what do you think?

I'm thinking parachute!!!:nice:

Shelby10' 6/11/07 05:03 PM

Jeff I have heard that Rotopros are a good brand.. but beware of the drilled rotors... I honestly would stick with slotted rotors, less prone to cracking from what I hear. Hawk Pads have been holding up well for most. I would go with that until you can get a decent bigger break kit. I love the Roush setup, but it isnt cheap. Hey what about the GT500 setup?? I believe the only difference from our is the front caliblers and rotors.. the rears are the same. Just some ideas

Shelby10' 6/11/07 05:05 PM

Oh and a parachute... David and I could fab up something that you could release on command... I was thinking shoe string and a hankerchief :)

cobra4548 6/11/07 05:05 PM

I would love to do the GT500s but I have yet to find a kit that is decently priced. I can get the rotopros (all 4 rotors) for 259 shipped and some pads from them for $70 which is much more economical for me right now since all the other kits are stupid expensive...

DavidM 6/11/07 05:07 PM

No need for apologies! Not your fault. I was having fun until that stupid idiot pulled over into our lane for no apparent reason! I'm just glad everything worked out. I was more scared for your car and all the money you just dropped on that SC then I was for my personal safety. All I could think was OMG This car is going to be smashed to pieces. All good! No worries.

Shelby10' 6/11/07 05:36 PM

Oh and jeff you do owe David a new pair of victoria secret thong underwear... since those are the pair he was wearing and soiled in your car. I believe it was a performance white pair of panties from secret :) right david

DavidM 6/11/07 06:30 PM

Of course performance white! It is afterall the fastest non color. :)

2006GT 6/11/07 06:32 PM

Well they were a non-color... :)

DavidM 6/11/07 06:34 PM

They are now dukie brown. :)

Well I'm glad you were able to attend. If only one person benefits from the day then I am happy! Can't wait to see the finished result. I absolutely love the springs I put in mine. Oh and as for the pullies we can help you anytime to put them on. Only takes a few minutes. If you want them on before Shelby we can do it I'm sure.

osudoc21 6/12/07 09:23 AM

David - i also bought some air tools yest- to make any further mustang work easier. i would like to get the pulleys on as soon as possible, when you or paul has the time to help.

i did order the front sway bar delete it should be here tomorrow!

DavidM 6/12/07 09:43 AM

Awesome. If we can borrow pauls pulley puller we can do it anytime you like. Perhaps on Fri. I think we were planning to do some cleaning up and so forth for the shelby show so mabey we could squeeze it in.

2006GT 6/12/07 09:43 AM

Cool Doc. Air tools... Love em. A man is only as good as his tools... Draw your own conclusions here... :)

DOC... Still got your table. Thanks again for letting us use it... what do you want to do with it? I should be able to drive within 2 weeks, so I can drop it off then? Let me know.

Shelby10' 6/12/07 11:37 AM

Paul I am sure we can fab something up with your welder to allow you to drive. I mean parapalegic people can drive... you can. its your gas foot correct? I say we can a hand held pedal foot... what say ye?

DavidM 6/12/07 11:40 AM

Don't let him fool ya. He just likes all the "extra" attention. Thats why he isn't driving.

2006GT 6/12/07 11:52 AM

A pimp should be driven around! Shhhhhiiiiiittttt.

osudoc21 6/12/07 12:49 PM

friday would be great for the pulleys, where are we meeting?

Paul - just hang on to the table for now, i can come get it sometime or if you are driving first you can bring it by.

2006GT 6/12/07 12:55 PM

Sounds good doc. It's not going anywhere.

osudoc21 6/12/07 03:31 PM

do i need a new crank bolt for the main pulley?

Shelby10' 6/12/07 03:32 PM

The steeda Pulley's should come with everything needed. New bolt and all

2006GT 6/12/07 03:42 PM

What Dave said.

DavidM 6/12/07 05:52 PM

The steeda pullies come with a long bolt that you use to get the harmonic balancer pulley back onto the crank snout. DO NOT USE THIS BOLT to do anything more than help start the balancer onto the crank! Reuse the factory bolt with a dab of black silicone around the underside of the head to keep oil from leaking out the front of the crank.

That you should havebought a Vista Blue Stang...

DavidM 6/12/07 06:00 PM

Oh I see......Right. If I ever win the lotto I'm gonna buy a vista and smash the crap out of it and make you watch.

Shelby10' 6/12/07 06:33 PM

I would by a performance white and take my everyday anger out on it with a baseball bat... that way I can extend the pain for david

DavidM 6/12/07 07:07 PM

Best buck fifty you ever spent. I'm still laughing! I don't think Jarrod has even noticed yet. LOL

I dont think I have laughed so hard in my life.... I started caufing and almost threw up

DavidM 6/13/07 06:44 AM

I love laughing at your expense. LOL NO ONE IS SAFE!

Note to self: Do not share any pictures on the net that could be embarassing later.

cobra4548 6/13/07 07:26 AM

On a different note, I sold my C&L last night.:-) That makes the C&L and the underdrives. 2 parts down and out of the garage...

Shelby10' 6/13/07 08:22 AM

How much did you sell you C&L for if you dont mind?

cobra4548 6/13/07 08:42 AM

$125 because I had had it for a year and a half...it's in perfect condition just needs to be wiped down. I'm shipping it this afternoon.

2006GT 6/13/07 08:54 AM

Awwww man. I would of gave you $126!

Shelby10' 6/13/07 09:18 AM

Man thats a smoken deal... you should have asked me jeff

Shelby10' 6/13/07 09:19 AM

well $125 + $75 for the tune= $200 Thats the price of a NEW JLT 2 CAI and tune...sooo yea still a good deal

2006GT 6/13/07 09:24 AM

JLT smokes the C&L... mainly because I have the JLT.... :)

Shelby10' 6/13/07 11:14 AM

DAVID look what I found!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-07...spagenameZWD1V

Shelby10' 6/13/07 11:19 AM

Only thing is that I believe powerdyne was recently baught out... and it doesnt have an intercooler. $3800 will get you a vortech and intercooler...

2006GT 6/13/07 12:11 PM

Doesn't look like it even has an intercooler avialiable. Not feeling the design either... look at the pic the shows the pipe and how it's connects to the TB... Looks to be way too small. It's not even tapered. it just looks like a pipe welded to a plate.

Never knew any body that bought one of these.... So, don't really know how they work/quality.

cobra4548 6/13/07 03:58 PM

No use in getting a SC if no intercooler. It is not as safe and won't make anywhere near the same amount of HP

2006GT 6/13/07 04:05 PM
