As long as you can swap it back out for the stock pipe every time you want/have to go to the dealer to satisfy your dad, if you want it that bad. After a few times you will be able to do it very quickly and it won't be a big hassle.

To void your warranty they have to prove that the mod caused the problem. Plus I have a friend that bought one brand new and I think his exhaust warrenty was about 1k miles or so he said (idk if he really knew what he was talking about).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuso...nuson-Moss_Act

Give the above link a read. The Moss Magnuson Warranty Act was passed to protect you the consumer from dealerships warranty claims. The dealership can not void the entire warranty over one part if the part did not cause the failure of what you need warrantied. So lets say you change to aftermarket mufflers...something goes wrong with your power steering...Ford can not deny your powersteering warranty claim because you have aftermarket mufflers or an O/R X pipe due to the fact that didnt cause the powersterring failure (not possible). If you change your rearend gears out and they shatter after a few thousand miles....Ford of course will not warrantythe gears due to you messing with them.

So basically if you go in because your wipers arent working correctly and they see that you have an O/R X pipe the cant void the warranty on your wipers...due to the fact that the exhaust has nothing to do with your wipers.

The dealership has to prove that the aftermarket part that you used directly caused the failure of the part you want warrantied.

We use Bob Hurley Ford which are our sponsors and they dont really mind that we modify our cars (within reason of course...we dont go around flaunting that we have aftermarket parts... its kind of dont ask dont tell, but I dont think anyone in the club has done anything to their car that would cause a problem...most have bolt ons so its no biggie).

There are those occasional dealerships that will give you a hard time due to aftermarket parts, but you just have to find one that is lenient.

SO in conclusion the O/R X is fine...we all have them we all go to Bob Hurley Ford for our warranty issues and concerns.

The X pipe is a quick change out....tell your dad that you will keep your factory H pipe in case you need warranty work...if you do just switch out the X for the Factory H and take the car in for warranty...no biggie...takes like 30 min to change out. you'll get pretty quick at it

Hope this helps

Of course some dealerships around the country have been known to void the entire warranty (even though technically they cant)..and once its entered its hard to fight and I hear its a long process to get reinstated.... thankfully the dealerships around here arent like that that I know of.

Good luck

Just another point to think about: To remove a properly functioning catalytic converter is against federal law. Major fines are possible.

Having said that, I do not know of anyone who has gotten in trouble for removing the cats.
