Shelby GT500KR Color/Stripe Choices--YOU CHOOSE!

Amy "amyb" Boylan of Shelby Autos has asked that TMS members suggest color and stripe options for the 2008 Shelby GT500KR. I do not have samples of the new-for-2008 colors Sangria Red, Vapor Silver, or Satin Silver, but I understand taht 2008 Dark Highland Green is the same as 2001 Dark Highland Green.

Assuming Shelby can use the entire 2008 color palette (including Dark Highland Green) and the retired 2005-2007 colors, what color options would you like to see on the 2008 GT500KR? I'll update this post with your suggestions.

Classic Shelby Color Combos:
  • Performance White with Vista Blue
  • Vista Blue with White
  • Windveil Blue with White
  • Legend Lime with White
  • Torch Red with White
  • Dark Highland Green with White
  • Black with White
  • Grabber Orange with Black
  • Grabber Orange with White
Modern Color Combos:
  • Vista Blue with Silver/Vapor Silver
  • Tungsten Grey with Silver/Vapor Silver
  • Silver with Black
  • Black with Silver
  • Black with Tungsten Grey
Custom Colors:

Serious, someone with the photoshop skills should see about doing the various combinations, for ye ole imagination impaired.

I liked Metallic Navy Blue with Tungsten

Here's my picks.
Performance White with Vista Blue (gotta have the classic color combo)
Vista Blue with White
Torch Red with White
Black with White
Grabber Orange with Black
Vista Blue with Silver Metallic/Vapor Silver
Silver with Blue (like the show car)
Black with Silver

Brad, sorry I meant to hit the "quote" button and clicked the "edit" button on your post (I normally don't have that button, I didn't edit anything). FYI, the 2008 color, Silver Metallic (YN) is an old and current color http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.asp...-ford-pg02.jpg Also, some sources are saying Sangria Red will be called Candy Apple Red on the 2008 Mustang.

I think Performance White with Vista Blue is the best combo. If I ever buy another Mustang it will be Performance White with Vista Blue stripes. I also like the Windveil Blue with White .

I wouldn't buy it, even if I could afford it, but I think that Legend Lime should definitely be a color option and a darker green as well since those were color used on '68 Shelby's. In fact since there are only going to be 1000 of them why not make them all in '68 Shelby KR colors. Forget the current colors just use the old ones.

Tungsten Grey with Vapor Silver
Tungsten Grey with Ebony Black
Vapor Silver with Ebony Black
Ebony Black with Vapor Silver
Ebony Black with Tungsten Grey

I like the idea of old colors, but I think it should definitly have a black with some kind of silver stripe option.

Hey Brad, I would say a Dark Green color would look great. Not a Highland Green, but more of a Midnight Green, with white or silver stripes would look awesome (thought I am all for a LL Shelby GT500KR with white )

Also, I got some info for colors. Sangria Red isn't called that for the Mustang. Its Candy Apple on Concepts. I posted some info for you in the general thread.

If this is the Ultimate Shelby Mustang it should have the classic legacy look of Performance White with Vista Blue stripes. Torch Red with White Stripes is a close second.

If you want uniqueness, the silver and blue is an eye catcher.

The Ford (Jaguar) parts bin has a great color to use that could be exclusive to the KR, Anthrocite. Its a bluish/black metalic that would look great alone or with metalic silver stripes.

Hmmm, Porsche has a color called Atlas gray which is a very, very dark metallic color....almost like a dark charcoal in fact. This kind of color seems to be hot in the market right now, and a color similar to this should look fantastic on a GT500KR. I don't know how well this would take to stripes though.

+1 It's a 40th anniversary homage. Might as well paint it the same. That would really make is special if it had an exclusive color palette vs. more pedestrian cars.

I vividly remember my first Shelby KR experience back in 1988 riding in a Highland Green 4 speed GT-500 KR --- I've been hooked ever since.
