I've been thinking...
... about this never ending escalating performance gains on our beloved muscled Mustangs.
How much do you guys want to bet that some idiot running for president and seeking attention will make an issue out of it.

Rejoice!
The main reason why the Shelby GTs are affordable is because of the GT500s which in turn will be affordable as soon as the top dog GT500KRs come in to the picture.

That will remain to be seen. They are only making 1000 of the KR's so I doubt it will have much impact on the pricing of the standard GT500. Only time will tell.
I Agree, I think this will soften the market even more. Very few cars are selling on ebay. I think we are going to see another price drop soon.
My dealer was trying to acquire a GT500 out of the States for a very good customer of theirs. He found one somewhere in Ohio that was used. The dealership was still asking significantly over MSRP for the thing!

I like the hood, the stripes are a better match, don't like the badging or the lower vents, prefer the GT500 wheels, and I am indifferent to the performance upgrades. The GT500 is the best I've ever had. Regardless, the GT500KR is one terrific toy but I won't lose any sleep over it. I just want the Bullitt or a Torch Red GT500 and either will be my last.
That machine is incredible. My dad and I just finished mopping the floor from all our drool. *hrmph* FORD is doing everything judt right this time around. Ahhh guess Ill be happy this go around with my GT/CS, maybe Ill win the lotto by 2008.
A probable theory for the improved weight distribution - AL engine block. Possibly AL "a-arms"/suspension parts and composite hood. Can't hazard a guess as to any actual meaningful weight reduction as Ford seems to take the "lazy" route by simply adding more power to "improve" performance. Nice halo effort, though. Don't even want to guess what the cost of this beastie is and the markup for the "privilege" to purchase it...
Over on Edmunds, a "Ford executive" was quoted as saying the following >> "Baby boomers have no ceiling when it comes to Mustang pricing ... They have an insatiable appetite for Mustang."
I seem to recall those same genius execs saying something similar about big SUVs a few years ago.
Seems the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I gotta say, I don't think so. I think it will be a while yet before we see prices fall.

Anyone else notice the poor quality of the photoshop.? Look at the rear window. It has blue stripes too. C'mon!
I'm no photoshop guru but I could have fixed that.
Sorry, it's probably just me being nickpicky since I've photoshopped a ton of silver stangs with blue stripes (see avatar).

I'd pick up a GT500 at MSRP and throw that hood on it and fix the rear badge and thats all you need. THey already have dash panels for the GT500 and you can get better suspension from the aftermarket.
