80K base price!

Check out this article, http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/..._ever_car_news

Apparently the base price is going to be just under 80 large. I don't know about you, but if that were my money, i'd buy a purty regular gt500, spend 5k to make it better in every regard, and then take the 30k i saved and go swimming in a pool full of cash. I guess because ford know's they can sell it at that price, they're going to. Hell, they could make it 100K and they would still sell every one, but that doesn't mean they should. For 80K i'm thinking more along the lines of nissan gtr and vette z06. Ford gets a big tisk tisk on this one.

$79,995 MSRP + options (only a couple and only totalling a couple thousand). Basically, it's Shelby that's getting the extra cash. Ford is getting the standard GT500 price, and forwarding the difference (mostly) to Shelby. Much like sending Mustang GT's to SAI for conversion to Shelby GT's then charging $10K for their services (which could be done for half that on your own).

I don't see a great demand for it, not with the likely dealers ADM factor and it being a muscle car not a sports car as a Ford GT.

That would make it a clone.

There is a big diifference in turning a GT500 into a KR and having a legitimate production KR. I would be less than candid if I would state I am not curious about it but not at the expense of owning a clone. On that point the advantage goes to the KR.

For this price, does anyone know if Shelby deals with the GT500 rear axle rust issue? As in, have they painted the raw metal parts, or is that something extra the buyer has to do on their own?

Wolf, the dealer would not paint it for me without charging me for it. I took the time to paint my own.

Just thought for this price, they could paint the rear axle too.

Is this an issue on '08's as well?
What did use snakebite? If spray how did prevent overspray, just plain ol' tape and newspaper?

Thanks

Oh that's right, they (made a bad decision, IMO) ditched the 20s.

6K Carbon fiber hood, ok...

Still quite a bit of "exclusivity" pricing

80 big for a car the regular GT500 should have been from the start, and that's a bit overpriced at $45, get off the crack pipe Ford. There are so many other cars in that price range, or less, that are simply much better cars overall (Z06, M3, Viper, 911, GT-R, etc.).

The GT500 should sell in the high $30's and this for maybe $40K and change, max.

I agree

Dad's72Mach, I used a two part urethane system by MasterSeries. They have a rust sealer primer that you apply first and then apply the top coat system after that. The top coat is chip resistant and solvent proof. You can apply this by spray or brush. I did a small amount of taping and applied the primer and top coat with a brush. Hope this helps

Why did the 20" wheels get ditched, anyways? Are they still an option? Those are some gorgeous wheels that were on the concept (Alcoa wheels--available through Shelby's catalog)

As for the sticker price $70 ish vs selling price $105-130 Ford like GM / Chrysler are just not getting it. There use to be a thing out there called loyality and these guys are going to pay the price as they let their dealers continue gouging their loyal customers. When I ordered a new Buick GN (1987) my home town dealer had the idea that they were hard to get, so they added $5000.00 to the sticker price. No problem..... drove 35 miles and ordered from another dealer. I had always owned GM's car's and trucks since I got my license in 1966. This year's purchases include '07 GT/CS (Black of course) Honda Ridgeline / Honda Accord / Honda Civic. The big three may not be interested in customers but Honda/Toyota/Masda certainly are.
