Engine

Well....she arrived today! The powerplant we are using for this project. If you remember the original engine was a total loss after dropping a valve, damaging one head and breaking the block....so we have gone with a Ford Racing Boss 302 based 347 stroker! This is a 450HP crate engine you can buy straight from Ford. We will have to change the intake since we are going fuel injected but it comes with a Canton road race oil pan set up right to fit into a Fox body Mustang!

They build a heck of a crate to ship this in and the outside packaging is nicely done too

Update....currently we are working on securing a Magnum T56 transmission....at that point the engine and trans can go in and the car goes to Kooks to get a set of custom long tubes built for it.

Sorry guys for the lack of news. Currently the car is on 4 wheels and we are working on getting a good deal on a Magnum 6 speed for the car...once that arrives the engine and trans will go in and the car will be headed to Kooks in NC to get a set of Custom long tubes made for it.

Things have been hectic with all the projects and I have fallen behind but I hope to get some time to work on some updates for both cars very soon!

This is awesome. I have really been considering a Fox resto mod as well. Guess I didn't think about all that would be needed to be done like this. But to stiffen the body and chassis, it's necessary. Paul, at some point would it be alright to hit you up about the chassis and frame modifications you performed. I can look at the pictures all I want but there is more to the story than meets the eye. Like you had said earlier, it's based off of the Kenny Brown kit so I am just interested.

I love the new engine! I want to make a more modern version and use the Coyote, like the Fox stepped into the future, but not like Back to the Future if you know what I mean. Anyway, didn't mean to hijack but this is an incredible project and I will one day use it for the basis of my project.

Update, the project was starting to speed up faster as we have figured out the wheels we want and a few other things....The Magnum 6 speed arrived from Modern Driveline days after the Tornados of 4-27 hit the area. I got a phone call from Ben on the morning of 4-28....he asked if we made it through the storms to which I responded "Fine...how are you guys"....he then told me "We lost everything...house, garage...everything". This obviously has put the brakes back on the project in order to recover. This project and my old '89 Georgia State Patrol Mustang that Ben purchased from me are the ONLY 2 cars he owns that were not damaged in the storms. Ben had a '93 Cobra that we just repainted 6 months ago and was perfect...not even gone to his first show yet, a 2000 Cobra R and a 1986 Comp Prep SVO with 21K miles on it that were all in the garage that was vaporized when the EF-4 Tornado ripped through Ringold, Georgia. On top of that my own Teal '86 SVO that was featured in Modified Mustangs was parked in his garage to keep it out of the weather since I have been so packed in my shop....my car was damaged as well. We spent the following days traveling back and forth to Georgia to help Ben get things picked up and haul the cars back to the shop to keep them away from looters and the upcoming rain since glass was broken out of them. The devastation in the area was unbelievable and 8 people lost their lives less than a quarter mile down the street from Ben's house.

I've been dealing with the insurance companies and managed to get them to repair the cars instead of just totalling them...it was close on a couple of them. Now things are starting to get back to normal....with the 6 speed here we are preparing to mate it to the Boss 347 and install them into the car....at that point we will plan to take the car to Kooks in NC to have a custom set of long tubes made for it.

Goes to show that life and mother nature have a way of changing plans but we are starting to get back on track again....as well as making plans to repair the damaged cars and put them back to their former glory.

Most pics are on my phone and I need to transfer them to the PC but here is a shot of my SVO looking over the roof of the '93 Cobra where the garage once was. Ben's house was totalled and he is in the process of finding a new house...he has had a great attitude during this whole ordeal....the main thing though is that he and his family are OK and made it through without being hurt.
