GHIB in local car show benefiting the American Cancer Society

This past Sunday, July 29, several members of the Gotta Have Builds team got together and took Gotta Have It Street, Gotta Have It Race and CJ’s 1968 Mustang Coupe to a local car show. The car show was held right near CJ’s, at the Central Dauphin High School, and was being run by the Central Dauphin Cheerleading and Lacrosse teams. The show was to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

The Gotta Have Builds Mustangs and CJ’s 1968 Coupe.

Everyone was very excited to take the 1968 Coupe and show it off. This coupe is the car that started it all for CJ’s, as it is the first car that the owner of CJ Pony Parts, Jay, restored back in the 1980s! CJ Pony Service did another restoration on the same car back in the early 2000s, and it still looks great! It is a 1968 Ford Mustang coupe in Seafoam Green with a 302 engine and C4 automatic transmission. Even though the car has mostly lived in CJ’s showroom for the last few years, it started right up on Sunday, and only needed some air in the tires to make it ready to cruise to the show.

The Gotta Have Builds team met at CJ’s around 9:30 in the morning to make the short trip over to Central Dauphin High School. They were joined by Joe from CJ’s sales staff, with his 2006 GT Coupe, Greg from CJ Pony Service, with his 1999 GT Coupe, and one of CJ’s customers with his 1969 Mach 1. Once they got to the show, they were also joined by Doug from the eBay department, with his sweet 1967 289 Mustang Convertible.

Everyone hung out at the show for a few hours and checked out the wide variety of Mustangs and other classic cars on display. Some highlights included Hoffman Ford’s 2013 black Boss 302 Laguna Seca, a few heavy modified Fox Body Mustangs, and a handful of nicely restored early model Mustangs. One of CJ Pony Parts’ regular customers brought out his Supercharged Roush Mustang, which has had a lot of work done on it by CJ Pony Service. There was also a very rare P51 Roush!

It was a great day for a car show, and everyone in attendance enjoyed the wide variety of Mustangs and other classic cars that were there. Gotta Have It Street, Gotta Have It Race and CJ’s 1968 Mustang Coupe were definitely attractions, and many spent time checking them out. However, if you missed the show, or want to see Gotta Have It Street and Gotta Have It Race in action, this Friday the Gotta Have Builds team is headed up to the Beaver Springs Dragway for their Friday Night Street Racing. Qualifying for the bracket race starts at 7:30 p.m., while eliminations start at 9 p.m.. You won’t want to miss it, or any of the other upcoming Gotta Have Builds events!

Why only breast cancer? Millions of people fighting for their lives with obscure cancers get swept aside by limiting fund raisers for research dollars to only certain well known cancers.

I do not know that answer sir, we just attended the show. I personally understand the whole cancer epidemic as I have lost my grandmother my senior year of HS to lung cancer and my best friend a year ago to esophageal cancer at the age of 39. Most these shows that do something surrounding a form of cancer that has effected a loved one, but as I said earlier I don't know why they chose this particular form of cancer we just attended the show as it is very local to us.

Yes I wear faithfully, never comes off, my LIVESTRONG bracelet.
