So I'm going to the auto show Sunday, and finally get to put eyes on the 2013 Pony lineup...

Anyone else going to be there??

 

I was just there.

The only 2013 Mustang there is the GT500 in white with black stripes. Car is locked but hood is up.

They have a grabber blue 2012 5.0, a Kona V6, and a race red V6 I think. When I saw they were 2012s I didn't pay much attention to them.

Then over by the Nissans they had a few leftover Fords I guess and that's where they had a 2012 Performance white Boss 302.

 

And you didn't tell me you were up here!?!

 

It's a very short trip and I've got wife and a lot of kids with me.

Going to the book depository tomorrow because my sophomore in high school daughter had no idea who JFK was.

 

Don't feel bad about that man. Wife doesn't know what Area 51 is.

 

Its weird we were driving down Elm street here and I'm like oh snap this is where it happened. There's the grassy knoll. This is exactly where he was shot. And the kids are like who the heck is that?

Anyway...

Saw lots of cars. Saw the ZL1 and it looks like garbage. Saw a 2012 SS that had brake caliper weights on it

Saw lots of hot car models there. OMG. You'd be in heaven Al.

 

Lmao. Steff told me about the Texas Mile. I never heard of that before. I want to make one of those. Not sure if I got the stones to run in it though. Would like to check it out for sure.

 

I'm gonna go this Sunday. And get a feel for it and maybe with a little inspiration run a car in it this Fall. They run it twice a year. I've never been but have been trying to go for at least 3 or 4 years now. It's only 40 miles from my house.

 

In the Shelby pic one of the Ford guys dropped his iPhone down the hole where the hood latch is. It fell between the AC condenser and the SC heat exchanger and nobody could reach it. And there a lot of plastic plates under the car that make that area impossible to get to without removing them. So he's kind of screwed.

 

Flat out for a mile scares me. I'll do 125 in the quarter easy and that's not even the top of 4th. Not sure where this car will top at but 170+ in a cobra vert just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Sounds like a hell of a weekend though. Really going to have to make the trip for one of these events. Doesn't look that far from Austin either so could be a real good time.

 

It's probably about 2 1/2 hours from Austin.

Speaking of Austin I drove by the F1 track on the south side of Austin on the way up here...









You can see where the press boxes and grand stand will be. Pretty cool.

 

I was thoroughly disappointed in Fords effort around Mustang! I can live with not having a LS at the show but to only have MY12 Stangs not good. Really wanted to get a look at a few of the new colors.

 

Now I almost don't want to go. :/
My excitement was around getting to lay my eyes on the '13 GT...

Well, I have free tickets, do might as well just make the best of it.
