Whine at specific RPMs

I've started noticing a loud whine that starts at 2,000 RPM and lasts until about 2,500 to 2,650. It happens even if the car is in gear or not. The car has about 78,000 miles, so I think might be a bearing in the clutch, but I'm not entirely sure.

It is a GT with a manual trans.

Any help or ideas anyone has would be appreciated.

yeah mate it's probably the clutch bearing, it makes the wine stoped too right?

I had the same problem with my 09 GT. Luckily it was under warranty and they found it was one of the pullys for the accessory belt. Almost sounded like the whine of a supercharger and the higher you rev'd, the louder it got. My car only had 35000 miles at the time. I'd check those first....little cheaper and easier if that happens to be it.

My 2006 just started this a couple weeks ago, thought it was the CAI whistle at first but it's way to loud for that. Once I fix one thing something else pops up /sigh!

I had a similar whine a while back that turned out to be a dying alternator.

Guy on another forum with a similar whining problem, ford engineers couldn't figure out what it was so they replaced motor. Still had whining noise, after a few more trips to dealer found out the noise was his alternator

How many miles were on your car when the alternator started going out? I've got 52,000 miles and starting to have a whine - not sure if it is the alternator or the A/C whine I've read about.

At the time, it was 50-something thousand miles. But my alternator seems to die every 2-3 years...as is common with 05-09. This particular one that was dying, just happend to whine and let me know before it was completely done.

My first guess would be the alternator, which has been mentioned. My second would be the rear end gears. Mine happen to whine horribly (always have) just under 60mph. Where/what does yours sound like it's coming from?

If youre referring to me, Sounds like its coming from Beneath the trunk. Mainly happens in third. It's so annoying.

Yeah, I was talking to you. Yours sounds like it's probably the gears...Mine whine just under 60mph, whether I'm speeding up or slowing down.

I would hope so, if you just bought it. But for some reason, I really doubt it. And for what it'll cost, I'd learn to live with it until you decide to swap gears.

You think i should take it to a mechanic I know and trust? I just wanna be sure it won't hurt anything in the long run. Would hate for that to happen

Mine has whined since I got it. I've learned to live with it, until I swap gears. If you really wanna get it fixed, I'd take it to whoever has the longest warranty. But it's gonna be expensive no matter where you take it, so be prepared...

Not yet... In my opinion I shouldn't have to pay anything. It's been a week and 2 days since I bought it.
