I could be way off here but I wonder if maybe the plastic clips that go into the hole are meant to keep leaves and junk from blocking the whole for water to come out, just a thought?

Interesting thought, but I doubt any leaves would get there and stay there long enough to ever be a problem........at least with anybody that washes their car more than once a year.

Depending on where you live and if you plan on keeping the car in good shape this is one of the places you should look for clogs!!! Like the cowl area in the Foxes always build up crap in there under the plastic cover!!!

Yeah, like water...

Taking them out drains a lot more.

Being where they are located, I highly doubt anything large would get lodged in there from daily driving, no more than the same type hole that is unplugged hear the front.

I removed the clips from my rear door-holes last night, and waxed the holes.

I don't think they were hurting me, but if they're not supposed to be there, then they're GONE!

just wondering.. why would they put them there in the first place if they are meant to be just thrown away? just for transport from the factory to the dealer? doesnt make much sense.

I was wondering the same. What was their purpose in the first place?

hi - the clips just pop right out. I asked at the ford service desk about them as it just did not make sense to plug the drain holes. They said to leave them in. After 3 years the bottom of all 4 doors are starting to rust.
The ford service adviser took pictures and send them to ford , he wanted them to make necessary repairs. Of course they refused at there were no holes. I took them trust me do not leave them there. I took them out and the water came out. I rubbed the
loos paint off, sprayed painted and waxed the door bottoms. I also spay Krown repellent once a month in the doors as a replellent. The doors have not gotton worse. Bottom line remove the clips

Were these removed during PDI (are they still on your car)?
Should I remove them?
no they are there to stop the water from getting in the car you should remove them after a few good rain days to drain the water. if you remove the cover then water will come into the car and get the floor board wet just like mine are now. been looking for a set for my mustang but with no luck

Thank you for updating this post and the purpose behind the drain plugs preventing unwanted water from entering the cabin...
