Haven't seen any billets for this. I might start again with a new cap and just watch the fluid level.

05 V6 Automatic here. No leakage around the fluid reservoir or the master cylinder. Guess i had luck on this one but will be keeping an eye upon this.

GL to all of you!

My 06 GT also has leaking at the master cylinder. The fluid has leaked onto a a painted section underneath that is butted up against the firewall. The first layer of paint is all peeled away. Not happy about this and thanks for pointed this issue out. Interested to see what Ford will say and do about this one. Most cars I 've owned seem to leak out the cap, so I'm not sure there is a 100% fix. Aren't the caps design to breathe a little? It sounds like Ford overfilled them at the factory, which exacerbated the seeping. Anyway, lets keep this alive and post any additional comments, fixes and news from Ford.

Thanks to this thread I checked mine and it was leaking around the cap and down to the seam, but not onto the paint. I looked at the side of the reservior and noticed the fluid level was way above full. I took a clean dry syringe and removed fluid until it was right at or slightly below the full mark. I have not had a single problem since.

Must be nice to have a dealer that will do it in a timely manner. Mine took 3 1/2 weeks to get it done.

I wonder if putting some saran wrap over the top of the threads and putting the cap on will stop it from leaking...

<- frustrated as well

I just wanted to report that the bicycle inner tube I used is still working.... I have had no issues with braking or any leaks.

I wouldn't use saran wrap as it's pretty thin and could rip and fall apart into the fluid.

The problem is the cap. You get seepage from the cap and it winds up down on the seam. Some are worse than others. There is a simple and inexpensive fix that anyone can do. Check out this thread:

Mine leaked and took the paint off the frame and off the booster. My dealer replaced the master cylinder, reservoir, booster and repaired the messed up paint, no questions asked.
