Thank you Ford!!!
Thank you Ford!!!
So my clutch basically grenaded itself. Made a HORRIBLE noise, Then became "soft" and didn't grab as well as it should. Crawled under and saw through the inspection hole in the bell housing that it looked like someone had beat the crap out of the pressure plate with a ball peen hammer. Then I noticed a c-shaped crack in the bell housing about 1 1/2" diameter.
Since I have quite a few mods I discussed the issue with a friend who used to be a service writer for Ford. He told me to only describe the symptoms and to not give them any indication what I knew what was wrong and also to not mention anything about mods.
So I did that. Took it to the dealer and played dumb. It makes a strange noise and the clutch doesn't feel right.
I said nothing about my mods.
A few hours later they called and said that one of the bolts that holds the pressure plate to the flywheel sheered off. It was an obvious defect and it would be repaired no questions asked.
I actually had to ask him if it was covered by warranty and he actually sounded a little suprised by my question. He said it certainly would as there was no question that the failure happened as a result of the defective bolt. He assured me it would be covered 100% by warranty and didn't say a word about the mods.
Apparently I got a mod friendly dealer.
Anyhow I just thought I'd share a good warranty experience amongst all the bad ones here.
Thank you God. Thank you Ford.

Freedom Ford, Edmonton Alberta Canada. Picked the car up last Friday good as new. They also replaced the trans input shaft seal while the had it apart. They said it had a really tiny amount of seepage so they decided to replace it. The fact is the car has less than a year warranty left and had they not replaced the seal chances are it would not have been an issue until well after the warranty, so I was pretty happy with the way the whole thing was handled.
This is proof positive that if a dealer treats you like crap try another. They are not all bad.

What were your mods? What were you doing when the clutch let go? I am curious as I have some mods and run autocross events all the time. I to have a good dealer that has replaced a few things for me.
One being the power steering pump, they said "strange, we haven't had one of these fail before on the new Mustangs?". They didn't know that they don't like being held at the rev limiter for extended periods of time on a really hot day

I have ARH long tube headers with catted X-pipe. WMS air intake system with ram air box and hood seal. CMCV delete plates. Coast 4" aluminum driveshaft with a BMR saftey loop. MGW short throw adjustable shifter. Prothane polyurethane engine mounts, BMR billet aluminum rear lower control arms and relocation brackets. I have a Bamachips 91 octane performance tune to bring it all together.
Also have Autometer 3 gauge pod on the windsheild pillar with Autometer Sport Comp oil press, water temp, Air fuel ratio and and volt gauges.
Shift light mounted in the gauge pod. Electronics by me.
Dealer noticed the mods and commented on them but they said there was absolutely no question that the clutch was a warranty issue and it was covered no questions asked.
