Peeling paint

I was just washing my car, and I thought I saw a piece of leaf stuck on the front bumper. I turned out to be paint and I peeled off a large piece of paint. The funny thing is, the piece that I peeled off is both clearcoat and the paint. Under that piece is also still body color with clearcoat (it's still shiny).

The car is brand new, picked it up dec '06 with 50 miles on it, its still only has 4400+/- miles. So it ticks me off that the paint peeled off. I'm just wondering if you guys think I should go back to the dealer and ask for a repaint, cause it seems like shoddy paintwork. With 2 layers of paint-job just stuck on top of one another, which won't adhere well.

I would DEFINATELY want it repainted. It's defective, and can only get worse, not better. Years ago I had some crows feet start to show on a new S-10, and I didn't take it back. Believe me, I should have. The entire hood is crows feet now. Nothing else on the paint job is bad.

If you want the car to look good and don't want to pay for repairs now or in the future then of course take it back to the dealer, after all that's what the warrenty is for.
I have a Roush bumper on my car (aftermarket) and I had peeling paint on part of the bumper, took it back and had the shop repaint the part.

Throw it back at him that the car was damaged before delivery and this proves it.
With 50 miles on the odometer it was used as a demo and somebody pushed it a bit too much.

Could also have been a repair made at the factory. Probably got scratched and either the dealer or the factory repainted/blended it. I would bring it in.

my bumper was scratched on delivery and it shows up as a service appointment. might want to look at that to see any service history.

Yup, if the dealer wrote a ticket on it, it will show up on the OASIS.

Might have been lot damage.

That would have been fixed by the dealer, and never recorded. Seen this happen too many times.

just came back from the dealer and their bodyshop. They're gonna repaint it under warranty. they checked the records (at least from what they said), no dealer has repainted it. To me it does look too good to be repainted by any bodyshop. No paint drips, no overspray, same amount of orange peel as the other body panels. Maybe ford just painted over it twice at the factory?

Now I just gotta figure out a plan on how to get to work w/o a car....

Ask the Dealership if they'll provide a loaner or discounted rental. When I had my Dealership repaint my firewall under warranty (due to leaking brake fluidreservoir), they gave me a loaner for 3 days.

I've got two spots on my 2008 that have flaked off on the front bumper on the edge, going to take it in to the dealer...

A Mustang that I was originally going to purchase was rear ended while being transported from one dealership to another. I ended up purchasing a different car. I saw the first car and it was damaged significantly. A couple of months later that very same car was on the lot for sale as a "new" car. Seeing this really left an uneasy feeling in my stomach
