Paint chip fix?

Well, I got a big chip on the side of my stang the other day and it is very noticable. So I used touchup paint to fill in the chip and let dry. Then I lightly wet sanded and used rubbing compound to buff it out as I have on other chips before. This time though, the wet sanding resulted in a burn spot that is a tad bigger than a quarter inch in diameter. I had to touch up the burn spot with more touchup paint and its worse than before.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Do you think the dealership body shop can fix it and if so how much? I just don't want to have to have the whole fender repainted.

Here are some pictures, they aren't the clearest but they give an idea.

Thanks for any input.

Is sonic blue a metallic? If it is you`ll have to paint the panel. You also forgot about the clear coat on top of the paint.

Yes its metallic. I have some clear coat I can brush on but I don't think it will help at all. I was just hoping a body shop could make it barely noticable without having to do the whole panel. I don't really have like $200 to spend.

It'll be more than 200$ to paint that panel..

Well, I went to the Ford collision center today and they said it would be $160 - $200. I have an appointment next week.

Thats a strange looking spot, if ford quoted 160-200 then they might be able to buff it out, which is way better than a new paint job
