Unhappy overheating battery cables and fusebox

My Ford 2008 mustang gt when driving the rpms got to high and the lights and dash started going crazy a day later battery dead,. I had the ECM replaced and the Bcm replaced and a new alternator, But the wire to the battery are so hot and the fusebox is extremely hot what could be the problem?

welcome to the forum, sorry about your troubles

"Captain Obvious" says there must be some short in the electrical system that is causing a large power draw .... not so obvious is finding that short; probably some power wire somewhere that is grounding-out to the frame .... one way to narrow it down is to remove all the fuses, then put them back one at a time until that draw comes back, then at least you know what circuit the problem is on

PS -- not sure why this post is in this sub-forum; might get better exposure and answers in one of the "normal" sections

Hello Bert, I am new to the forum so I wasn't sure where to post it. Thank you for respond!ing so you are saying I should post this in subforum. It's a convertible, so far also the interior light, convertible top and the mirrors inside car are not working as well. Obviously I have to bring it back to the guys who did this and obviously I don't think they know what they are doing! so trying to get as much information as possible.

Thank You
Rose
Nice to meet you

Welcome,

Put You in The Correct Spot.

The More You Know The Better.

I Would Suspect The SJB and Water Intrusion. This Forum Has Threads on That Issue in The Sticky Section.

Look At Anything SJB, Battery or Water Related. Also All the DTC Codes are Listed in Here as Well! I Would Think You Would Be Throwing Codes. If Not There is Not A Symptom PDf Chart is In The DTC Pdf Section as Well!

SJB = System Junction Box or Smart Junction Box, located under the dashboard on the passenger side (inside of car) -- it is where a lot of wires come together and there can be problems with it due to water intrusion

The water comes from the cowl drains on the firewall, on the front/outside of the windshield. The water drains down in there, and there are drains at the bottom to let it out; but those drains get clogged and the water overflows down into the fire-wall and down inside to the SJB, and causes all kinds of electrical problems. Usually a tell-tale sign is that the carpet is wet or stinky on the passenger side.

This is a common problem and there are existing threads on here with a lot of discussion and details. I would search in the 2005-2009 section if I wanted to find out more about that, or you could just clue in your mechanic to look at the SJB: https://themustangsource.com/forums/f637/

EDIT/PS -- better idea is to start with the "sticky" that 05stangkc just posted above while i was writing this
