One Time AC Issue - Anyone experienced this?

So I leave work with the windows down as always until I get on the interstate. I turn on my AC because of the noise and dirt, the AC light comes on as usual, and warm air starts to blow for the first few seconds as usual. Temp is on cold/blue. Fan is on high.

Now I expect the air to start getting cold after 3 or 4 seconds and it does not. I turn the AC to MAX, the AC light remains on, and the re-circulation light comes on as expected. Still no cold air! I wait about 20 seconds, which is waaaay more than should be necessary. Still no cold air.

I turn everything off and curse. A lot. And then I curse some more. (Within the past month I've had to replace my house AC, a water heater element, well plumbing, and part of my riding mower drive mechanism. I'm the most broke thing in my house now.)

I calm down a little and try MAX air again. Within a few seconds I have cold air. I'm guessing this was an electrical anomaly maybe a flaky switch, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. If so, was it just a one-time thing or a symptom of an impending hard failure.

Thanks for the info.

I had the same thing last summer once. I left a car show that was an hour away and I didn't get air. I put down the windows and got on the highway. The road noise started to "upset" me and I tried the AC again. Seemed to be fine. 12K miles later and never an issue.

Just an FYI...there have been issues with the controls in these cars. I have had mine swapped out. It works dine now. Mine was heat related but same control unit. Keep an eye on it and if it happens again Id call the dealer.

Dude, I just can't seem to catch a break lately. Maybe I should just buy a new one every year or so, like you!

Same thing happened to me one time only as well, can't remember if it was in 05 or 06. I didn't think much of it since it hasn't happened since.

The same thing happens with my 2000 GT. If you are driving at highway speed with the A/C off, then you turn it on it will not blow cold air! If you slow down or pull over and stop, everything starts working again.

The A/C clutch can be re-adjusted for proper pre-load... I'm not sure if this is the problem though.

I'm having the same problem and I'm getting ready to take it to the dealer. Almost like there is a system leak because it is just not putting the a/c like it should. I'll check the TSB.
