Drivers Side Switch Plate Cover - Crater

This is interesting. I just noticed this today on my windows switch plate. I took it off and looked behnd it for a post or anything that might cause it from behind and nothing, it is flat as can be. Anyone else ever seen this? any ideas?

Close up. Only had the camera phone so it is not a great image.

Maybe someone dropped something on it?

Reminds me of a cigarette burn. Was it there when the car was new? If the car is under warranty and you insist that it is a defect that was not caused by anything you did then they should happily replace it. It's a relatively inexpensive part so even if you have to shell out your own bucks for it, it's not going to break you. It's very easy to replace in less than five minutes.

Cig burn is the first thing I thought of but there is no actual burn or char/crust on it. Time for upgraded plates from whoever it is.

A depression caused by a ring or other piece of jewelry???? Or your car keys (or something else) in your left hand while getting out of your car???? It's weird though, that plastic seems pretty hard for a dimple like that to happen

The second pic could be passed as a U.F.O. You should send it to the Inquirer. Other than that, I haven't seen one of those on a switch plate before. Does look like something caused it to melt.

Perhaps a chemical melt? It does look drop shaped... Maybe a small meteor hit it... LOL!
