Dash Rattling?

Hey everyone, this has been something annoying that I have noticed with my new 07 GT Mustang.

Have any new mustang owners noticed a rattling in their dash board on the passengers side? It comes and goes and then goes away when I push down on the front of the dash board. Cany anyone tell me how to fix this???

Thank You!

Dash Rattle

My 05 GT does this on the passenger side, it started when it got cold. Has something to do with the latch on the glove box, anyone know of a service bulletin on this one.

Bring it in to the dealer and they will fix it. I brought mine in and they fixed it for me. They add some felts on the dash near the window and the rattle was history. Hope this helps

My dash rattles on the drivers side and in the middle at the glass. Its all the hard plastic rubbing against each other (dash cover and A-pillar cover) especially when it is cold. I'll be taking the car to the dealer soon to get this fixed.

Are you sure it's the dash. The reason why I'm asking is that I thought mine was rattling for weeks, however, discovered that it was not the dash, but the shifter boot.

I'll third that. It seems that if I push the shifter over to the right a bit, and hold it there because it snaps back, the rattle goes away. It also seems to go away while accelerating.

I'd normally blame it on the fine roads we have here but not this time.

Here a fits for the shifter boot problem/rattle. Pop off the bezel and oil down the back of the boot with any oil/silicon cleaner/protector. You may have to do it a couple times, but it'll work. The sound is actually the pleather material rubbing against itself... strange, but true

I've got the dash problem as well on the drivers side and it definately is the worst in the winter. Once the car heats up it goes away.

Going to the shop next week. But I have another major problem but thats for another thread as I don't want to hijack this one.

Little details like this is what causes import owners to have bad perceptions on Fords. As nice a job as they did on this car, why couldn't they go an extra 10" and put that dash together so it doesn't rattle?

LOL!! I have dash rattles as well and my car is currently sitting in the shop. They said they fixed them, but are waiting on the gas tank in order to perform the TSB. I'll post once I know if they are cured and what was the fix.

There actually is a fix for the passenger side dash rattle. Since the site has been revamped, I would just do a search for dash rattle, and you should be able to find it. I did the fix, and it worked.

Is the fix a TSB? If so, I'd love to pass it along to the dealer.

The glove box is an easy fix... I just removed the metal latch (from the dash, not the door) and put a piece of duct tape on the side that touches the underside of the dash. Mounted it back up and no more rattle.

What you may be hearing also is the passenger airbag doors (IUP). Mine rattle when cold and not sure how to fix that one.

For those with dash rattles, do you have the IUP / SAP or any other appearance package?

I've got an automatic so its not the shifter boot. its definitely the dash because I can wedge something between the dash and the A-pillar to stop the rattles temporarily.

What's that I hear? Now you're actually AGREEING with everything I was trying to say about Ford quality issues, cheap plastic used in the dash, and the link to perception?! And after all those condemnations of my so called "negative Ford-bashing" posts?!
