"Check Fuel Cap" ???

Has anyone else had the issue of the display saying "Check Fuel Cap" ?

Mine just started doing it and my gas cap is screwed on til it clicks. Any ideas why it is doing this? Should I be concerned? Malfunctioning sensor?

thanks,
nate

I had that and I reseated the cap and it never came back.
Take it off and put it back on and drive it for a while.

I've tried reseating it numerous times. It doesn't seem to be resetting. It comes back every time I start the car. It doesn't appear to be causing any performance issues. Power and gas mileage appear to be the same.

Any ideas?

fuel cap issue

I had this happen and it turned out that a solenoid valve on the vapor line (connects fill pipe to engine area) was stuck open. The service department couldn't get the tank to pass the pressure test. Solenoid was replaced under warranty... no issue for the past year.

Could be a bad fuel cap, just be sure when you take it in you have the cap on correctly so they will not try and make you pay for visit to service.

I had it happen to after I hit a piece of truck tire on the road. It had knocked one of the hoses connecting to the gas tank loose and it was hanging down. I stuck it back on and it went away. Something to check ...
