Seems like everyonce in awhile my V6 auto doesn't want to shift. I've noticed this twice now in the 1 1/2 months that I've had the car. The first time happened about 2 weeks after I bought the car. If I can remember right it didn't want to shift into 3rd. I didn't think anything of it because I had just started to brake before I noticed it wasn't shifting, I thought to myself man did that not want to shift into 3rd but when I took off from the stop everything was fine. Jump forward a month with everything doing great then last night pulling out of my drive way it didn't want to shift into second. I took my foot off the gas and then reapplied and and it still was almost redlineing. I grabed ahold of the shifter and the second time after taking my foot off the gas everything was fine again and everything was fine the rest of the night. I had it at the dealership all day today and they couldn't get it to duplicate and said everything appeared fine. I took the car home and everything appears to be great.

Has anybody had anything like this happen? I'm wondering now if maybe the car could have slipped into neutral and when I grabbed the shifter it locked back into gear. Now that I think about it last week I could have swore it didn't want to go into reverse even though the indicator was on R. I applied the gas and nothing but engine reving and once I grabbed the shifter everything was fine again. Let me know what you guys think.

 

You could try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and let the tranny reset the shift points? See owners manual: battery section.

 

Same thing happened to my 05 ......early morning start almost redlined it before it kicked into 2nd gear, after that everything was fine until the next morning and same thing happened again. Shop said they couldn't find anything wrong, the next week I went from drive to reverse and the car wouldn't move......applied more gas and the tranny kicked in....that was about 2 weeks ago, again the shop said they couldn't find anything wrong.
