The other day I got a letter from Ford urging me to take the Stang in for the good ol' shrapnel grenade air bags.How could this still not have been taken care of on a 16 year old car?Well,it was a one owner when I got it,but still

 

I got one a few years ago for my 08 V6 and had them both replaced. I have not gotten one for my 07 gt yet though. The previous owner may have had it done though

 

It just seems odd to me that nobody got it done after all these years,but then again,I probably won't get around to it for another 16 years

 

Um... currently drivin' a 2007 Caliber, air bag hasn't been done on it yet... so... yeah... it happens...

I am due to have mine done later this month. Reason for the delay? I live in Juneau Alaska and there has not been a Ford dealer here for 12 years. nearest dealer is 1000 miles away and the car has to be shipped there by boat. and will take 2 weeks before I can get it back. Now if I request a loner we add another shipment for the loner and 2 more weeks. Oh and aprox $1500 shipping each way. Add it all up and Ford is going to be out just under $10,000 to replace mine. WOW.

That's a mighty sweet Shelby.I'd sure hate to be without it for a couple weeks,but I guess it's better than having the air bag blow your face off

 

hmmmm . . . . I think I might take my chances with the airbag blowing my face off, LOL

and yes it is possible that the previous owner never got it done; or maybe the dealer did not register the airbag replacement in the system correctly

 

I am the second owner. First owner rolled the car within 1 year of owning it. I spent a lot of time rebuilding it the way I wanted it. 1 nice thing is I never had to through anything that was good away to upgrade it to the way it is today.
