Active Anti-Theft System

Ok - car is now out of warranty (car has over 91,000 miles). For some reason the alarm is not sensing when someone reaches inside the car when the active anti-theft system is armed. I tried following the instructions in the owner's manual, and that has worked before, but it is not working now.

Any suggestions or ideas before I have to go spend big bucks at the dealership to fix this?? Anyone?

Try cleaning around the sensors.

I had a similiar problem with mine a couple of months after I got it in the spring of 2005. Had it in the garage with the windows down and armed. Was able to open the glove box and clean it out without it going off.

Took it to the dealer. The mechanic would arm it and then stick his hand in and wave it around until it would go off and tell me it was working ok.

Told him to let it sit for 10 minutes or so and try it. Claimed he didn't have time for that. Funny, it was in for an oil change so he really did have time for it

Learned my lesson. Don't leave the windows down with it armed and anything of value in the car. The sensor is hit or miss.

What's funny is I left my windows half open at a show, a kid stuck his NOSE over the edge of the window and it went off.

Another day I reached in while it was sitting in the driveway and took my maglight out of the glovebox, the alarm didnt go off until I had walked back into the garage.
